Magnesium Overcast- Magnificent ! 28 Oct 2002

The B36 has to be one of the most fascinating aircraft of the cold war era. Although it was slow, and never dropped a bomb in anger, the combination of its size, complex systems and the experimental variants makes the programme a fascinating one. Who could resist a plane with ten engines- six turning, four burning ?

Jenkins' coverage of this aircraft is truly magnificent; in particular, detailed coverage of the parasite experiments is most welcome. I have rarely seen a better prepared book.

A book which can only be heartily recommended, and at a bargain price considering the quality.

Big thumbs up for this big book about the "Big Stick"! 2 July 2004

The B-36 has always been one my my favourite aircraft of the immediate post-WW2 era. Its truly massive size and wonderful propulsion must have deeply impressed all those who have actually seen it in flight, now around 50 years ago.

At first glance, Magnesium Overcast is nothing short of stunning! It combines lots of informative text with tons of photos and line drawings.

I can thoroughly recommend this book to anyone with the slightest interest in this magnificent aircraft. Scale modellers too will find lots of use for this book, as it contains many detail photos, original manual drawings and 3-view schematics. Fans of aircraft prototypes and obscurities will also love this book, which contains many of the early B-36 proposals and later projects, including the nuclear NB-36, the all-jet YB-60 and the B-36/parasite aircraft combos, to name but a few.

Overall this is a great book, undoubtedly the best one on the B-36! And at the price it's going for, it's a must-have!

i got this book for me dad at xmas because hes mad on the peacemaker, he had been looking for this book for along time. when he opened it you should of seen his face the biggest grin ever. he didnt put the book down until he read everything and having pictures that had never been seen before he was over the moon. if your like me dad and mad on the peacemaker this is the book for you for defo

Just brilliant

One of my favourite aircraft and a publication that does it more than justice.

Lots of obscure photos and a thorough coverage. Buy this and you'll not be disappointed.
