Product Description

Developed by SoftMax, the team behind the original 'Magna Carta: Tears of Blood,' and powered by the Unreal Engine 3, Magna Carta II combines a deep storyline, beautifully detailed graphics and a unique active turn battle system to create a fresh new RPG experience.

Magna Carta II introduces an original storyline driven by intense themes of love, hate, politics, betrayal and the ultimate question of choosing one's own fate. Players are immersed in the world of the Lanzheim Continent, a conflict-ridden land deeply divided by a fierce civil war. Powered by the Unreal Engine 3 and featuring character designs by famed Korean artist Hyung-Tae Kim, the game bears a striking visual style unlike any other RPG through its blend of photo-realism and Japanese manga influences. The deeply emotional story is driven by beautifully rendered CGI cut-scenes featuring fully voiced dialogue to draw players into the immersive experience.

Delivering more than 40 hours of gameplay, Magna Carta 2 features a unique battle system which combines strategic turn-based battles and real-time gameplay, creating a fresh twist on the traditional RPG formula. The game seamlessly blends world navigation and battles as everything happens in the same environment with no load screens or abrupt changes in the action when a fight begins or ends. Players can utilise objects found in the environment to their advantage and likewise, creatures and field objects dynamically react to the player's actions. A free-roaming camera further adds to the unrestricted interaction with the world. Players are also given flexible control over their party with the ability to pre-assign attributes for each AI character and the freedom to easily switch control between all the characters at any time.

Hidden Masterpiece 13 May 2010
Fun:
Frankly i bought this game without high hopes for it, judging by some of the reviews
But it was definitely worth it, i havent been so into a game since DA:O

It took me around 30 hours, but to be fair i'm not the sort of person who completes all the side quests so the game easily has 40+ hours in it

The story is great, a little slow to start but once it gets going its definitely enjoyable, it has several twists in the plot that i would never have predicted, but perhaps other people will

I thoroughly enjoyed the battle system which is basically ATB (FF13 without paradigims and seperated battle fields and with free movement, and i much prefere this) At the begining its very simple and easy to get the hang of, however later in the game it gets more complicated with team chains and powerful abilities

My biggest problem with the game is how easy it is, i sailed through every boss without ever having all my characters dieing (so i still dont know what happens if you die, im guessing you reload an earlier save?) But perhaps thats just because i play games too much ;)And as far as i can tell there isnt a difficulty setting

This is definitely worth a buy, or at least a rent
It's a shame this game has been ignored so much, its a brilliant game and you wont regret buying it

A great game! 22 Oct 2009
Fun:
This is a really good game that will get you hooked! I played the game for 2-3 days straight and really loved it. If you are to complete everything, you are looking at about 50-60 hours of gameplay but sadly, you do spend a lot of times just getting to places which is not so fun. On the bright side, this game's battle system is really good but can be a bit confusing in the beginning but it pays off greatly if you learn how it works from the start!

Also, this game is not so difficult to complete so you probably won't throw your controllers are the TV :D

To sum it up:

+ Great battle system
+ Beautiful character and environment design
+ Interesting but cliched (at times) story with a twist
+ Not difficult (if you are just a casual, playing for enjoyment)
+ Good voice acting for the most

- Maybe a bit short but 50-60 hours of enjoyment is well worth the money
- Bad "transportation" system, you spend a lot of time just getting to places
- A character has an extremely high pitched voice (play the game to find out who)
- Battle system hard get accustomed to at first

Fun:
I got this game for Christmas and I must say it is one of the best RPGs I've ever played. It has good characters, good battle system and one hell of a good story to it which really draws you into the game. Before I got this game I looked at a review in a magazine and it was giving it 4/10; I really would like to know why? i'm definatly giving this game 10/10. Its a must have, I only wanted this game to keep me busy till Final Fantasy 13 comes out and im loving every minute of it.

There are about 100 quests you can do within the game; some are optional and some are required for the story to continue. I'm only half way through the quests after almost 30 hours through. I reccomend that if you get the game, try to do as many quests as possible as you get quite abit of experince, items and money which is a big help in the game.

Personally, it's a great game!
