I've been searching for samples in genres other than dance and hip hop so was really looking forward to this collection which includes pop/rock and R&B samples.

There's nothing misleading in the blurb about this product but I was disappointed in the old fashioned sound of many of the samples. Other sample collections like ejay give you up to date samples that compare with music you hear on the radio whereas this collection sounds a bit dated.

It's fine if you're looking to make '80's style Whitney Houston songs but anything more cutting edge than that - forget it.

I think the claim that there are 23,000 samples is highly misleading. For most musical samples there are seven versions in different keys - essentailly the same sample. If you have a decent audio sequencer you can pitch shift anyway so this is almost pointless In some cases the same sample is repeated with slight differences - perhaps a subtle effect applied. It would be far more sensible to have variations on a sample to build a tune around. I'd guess that there might be 3-4000 different samples really. The quality of the samples is not great either. Not recommended...

I was very disapointed by this collection and firstly agree totally with other reviewers in that its misleading saying theres 23,000 samples when there is loads of pointless variations of the same bloody sounds! This collection should be at the most £10.
Also the quality of the samples is totally crap and very 80's sounding. the actual programing of all the drum loops are very simple and are not origonal as some have the "ive heard this before somewhere" sentiment.
I think this sound collection is aimed at the 'happy to knock up a quick track to impress my mates or er my mum' and to be honest the sounds wouldnt even do that! no offence MAGIX but your sound essentials suck.
p.s - i buy alot of sample cd's from zero-g , amg , and time and space and produce alot of arrangements for artists using Cubase and reason 2.5 so i have a good ear for good usable samples. I recommend sereous pro-musicians go to time and space web site where you can actually listen to the cd's and hear for yourselves quality samples.
