Another year.........Another update..., 21 Feb 2007
Version 12 eh?....well as usually Magix have relased a new/ updated version of Magix 11, actually this was released mid November last year, as will a new version (13) will probobly be released this year.
But, has it been worth it?........well........yes actually. As a keen magix user, I look forward to the new versions and usually buy them without question.
This year has seen some new additions to the lineup.
Including some new virtual instruments, and a better user interface between you and the intruments.
But, what I really like is the lack of bugs in this version, have had some problems, but nowhere near the same as before, especially when using VST instruments (plugins) and DX effects, except for one or two, and I wasnt dissppointed as they happinned to be YEARS old.
Also, It just updated itself to include Vista OS configuration, which so far for me has worked like a peach!
Another little touch is you don't have to pay for the MP3 Export option anymore it just comes as standard.
What follows is my orginal review of Magix 11, as the 12th Version is very much the same I didnt see the point in typing all this out again only worded slightly differently.
I hope this helps as I find this to be the best value for music software in production.

(ORIGINAL REVIEW OF MUSIC MAKER 11)
For those of you not familiar, this is basically a music producing piece of software, but it's been created so it's dead easy to create some pretty pro sounding tracks without much effort.
It works by simply Dragging various sounds (ill touch on these later) into the arranger, line them all up and play them back and hey presto, you've got a nice little song going, really its that easy.
But, there is a hell of a lot more to it than that, as you get better you will find that MM will allow you to grow your potential, what with a decent range of mixers, and audio effects that can be applied to any sound you can virtually change the original sound into something completely different.
So, is that it? No! magix will also allow you to drag and drop mp3's/import tracks from cads, and then allow you to remix them, and thanks to the programme finding the tempo and even the pitch (although the pitch finder can have mixed results), you can quite easily re mix your older mp3s. THEN if you have any older of badly recorded songs, drag and drop them in and you can tidy them up, bring the wound levels up and tune it in the mastering suit, and give it a new lease of life!
Magix also then has a huge amount of export possibilities so when you're done simply send it off in what ever format you need it in.
NOTE: the MP3 decoder works very very well.
So sounds, as in small little sounds that are all pre designed in 7 different pitches, pitch 1= the note C, and so on up the scale.
You get SOME sounds with the initial programme, they sounds range from Trance to hip hop, bigbeat, and Rock!
Now, this is the biggest point I have to make, if you are buying this you HAVE, I and I rally mean this lol, HAVE to ALSO purchase, MAGIX Sound Essentials Vol. 4, this is basically another DVD filled to the brim with THOUSANDS of different sounds, again, spread out in different sounds and genres, if you really can afford it I would also recommended Sound Selection 3, as this too has a huge DVD filled with even more sounds, this will realistically give you a HUGE amount of resources to play about with and will keep you busy for a very very long time.
Another little thing, if you have the appropriate sounds card (i.e. one that good enough), you can easily connect a keyboard or live instrument, (guitar with jack etc), you can record yourself live, and then make all the sounds corrections and after effects to anything you played.
All in all the best Music maker in a very long time, for anyone interested in music creation and are REALLY just starting out, you will LOVE this, its a lot of fun, and can dominate A LOT of your time cause once you think you have a good song going you wont be able to stop playing about with it!!!!!!

Worth the Amazon price - just!, 31 Mar 2007
Despite the low price this piece of software is not without its problems. Running on an Intel Dual Processor with plenty of RAM, I find the program will occassionally crash. I dare not risk anything less than saving the project once every minute, otherwise I tempt grief and starting all over again. It is a low end attempt at music creation, which it does otherwise quite admirably but the bugs should have been fixed by now.
If you are looking for a decent piece of music creation software, look elswhere. If you purchase Sound Essentials 4 aswell for the £[...] price tag as I did, you may like me feel cheated!

Don't buy Magix Music Maker 12 Deluxe , 18 Jun 2007
I have been buying Magix software for about four years now. Not once in that time have I had a return from their so called support system. I have upgraded every year hoping that this time the bugs will be worked out-no.This software is very simple to use, that's why I like it. Trouble is has bugs glitches and pops that seem to get worse every year. Every thirty days the program asks if you would like to upgrade the new and latest patches. In four years their has never been an upgraded patch. I just gave up on 12 delux and have gone back to MM10, to do very basic work. Sorry Magix, but I tried to stick with you, but you've lost the plot.
