I got this product as I liked the capacity and it was all metal rather than plastic and metal and seemed well designed.
The fryer is well made, gets up to temperature, works fine except for one thing and in general would be a 5* item except for ...the temps are well out for my particular example.
When I first got it I set it to 120C to do some chips gently before browning them off later and they went brown straight off! I measured the temps with a thermometer that had been calibrated in boiling water and the actual temp was 155C! I did some testing and got the following
60C = 114C
120C = 155C
160C = 178C
180C = 188C
so it gets more accurate with rising temperature. Now I know how it works it is fine, but if you did not have a thermometer it would be very bad to work out what was happening and so perhaps is worth 1*.
So in summary, if you don't have your own thermometer for checking yours is OK when it arrives I would give this a miss. But if you do then it is fantastic.
As an aside, I cooked chips about 10-12 different ways and have found that if you boil the potatoes first until they are very soft, then put in the freezer for 25 minutes and then fry rapidly at 190C then this gives the best result. Microwaving them first gives a skin and gentle frying makes them hard and go soft quicker.

Worth every penny. We bought this after throwing away a cheaper one that was awful. This is big but it heats up incredibly quickly and makes great crispy chips. Best thing - the whole thing comes apart and is so easily cleanable. There are no plasticky parts to get sticky and horrible - this is just a stainless steel bowl with an element that clips down into it.
