I love to cook and do so regularly. Having owned my fair share of food processors in the past this one outperforms them in in design, power and the fact that it is incredibly quiet considering the size of the motor is a big bonus.
It is VERY heavy but I actually like that as it doesn't feel flimsy and cheap. The extra bowls are fantastic and they all fit into one another so it doesn't take up so much space on the worktop although it does make it taller than most processors so it might not fit under your cabinets.
You wouldn't want to put it away though as it looks gorgeous!
I would recommend it to anyone that cooks regularly as it is quite expensive and you have to be a regular cook to appreciate that.
I think it is worth every penny.

I do a lot of cooking and have found the magimix to be very good. It slices and shreds very quickly and easily. It is very heavy so you need it out on your work top as you would struggle to get it in and out of a cipboard. It also is very tall so unlikely it would fit in a cupboard. The bowls fit inside each other which does cause extra washing up at times. If you do breadcrumbs in the small bowl they tend to fall also intothe bowl below. But regardless of this an excellent product.

After seeing the Gadget show I ordered this. First impressions is it does everything I want and more, loads of attachments, tank like build quality, the unit is very very heavy, this is a good sign!.
I particulary like the slicing attachement, cuts through potatoes very neatly and would be great for home made chips (though there is also a thicker sliced blade), it sliced through too big potatoes (which fit down the wide tube nicely) in about 2-3 seconds...very fast!.
I love the safety cut out feature which not only senses bottom bowl and lid but also works on the extra wide feed tube making it so much safer for families.
The bowls feel like they will last a lifetime, thick plastic that is used in aircraft windows (according to the gadget show).
Someone complained in a previous review that the manual doesnt give clear instructions on the attachements, I would say if you cant work out how the shaft and top disks fit then maybe you are too dumb to use a food processor.
Buy in confidence, but make sure it fits under your worktop units, its a tall unit.Magimix 5200XL Food Processor, Satin Steel

If you are thinking of buying this, please be aware that it is not accurately described on the Amazon website (at least at time of writing, with a bit of luck they'll correct it soon). The Amazon website says that it comes with a parmesan disc, but it doesn't. I discovered this after buying it and even after being sent a replacement. If you look at the description on the Magimix website you'll see that it isn't even supposed to come with one. As I use a food processor mostly for grating parmesan, this was a bit annoying.

Now to be fair, Amazon customer services were quite good about sorting this out, and after sending a second box that also lacked a parmesan disc, agreed to refund me the cost of a parmesan disc so that I could buy one elsewhere as an accesssory. So I'm happy now.

Anyway, back to the product itself, I've only got it recently so can't give a detailed review, but a couple of points immediately spring to mind. First, it is far more quiet than I would have expected, especially given what a complete beast of a motor it has. Very pleasing.

Second, it comes with a neat little box for storing the accessories, which is almost a nice touch, but could have been better designed. It has 4 slots for holding the discs, but it comes with 5 discs. The 5th disc can be made to squeeze in, but it's not very elegant. I'm not sure where I'm going to put my parmesan disc when that arrives.

One disadvantage is that the unit is quite tall and therefore is difficult to put away in a cupboard unless you have a lot of space between the shelves in your cupboard.

It clearly feels well made, and it's pretty obvious that it's a quality piece of kit. Sure, it's expensive, but as with most things you get what you pay for. I think I'm going to be happy with it.

My wife seems to like it when she uses it. The white plastic attachments tend to stain easily and the stains are hard to remove. Good value from Amazon - even cheaper than at John Lewis!

I purchased this machine after hearing a review on the gadget show (which gave it five stars). I must say it is a fine machine. It has so far impressed me on many tasks all the usual stuff, cake making, pastry, grateing, slicing etc, etc, too many to name. It is a big machine but i love this it feels strong and capable and the large bowl is just right for batch cooking although having the choice of the smaller ones is fantastic, a tool for every job. The large feeding tube is ideal for putting vegetables in without having to chop them up small first. This food processor looks great out on my work surface ( it is very heavy )and it is everything i wanted in a machine no more cupboards full of small gadgets and mixers this does it all with ease i love it .
