5.0 out of 5 stars 'We can do it in the mix', 20 May 2005
By A Customer
If you're keen on preparing your own food and not being reliant on all that supermarket processed nonsense, then a Magimix is worth considering. Make your own mincement (think home-made burgers & meatballs), pizza doughs, and slice stir-fry-able vegetables in seconds. It's compact and comes fully loaded with a shed-load of useful attachments, so you shouldn't need to buy any extras. (The Chrome and brushed stainless steel model come with a 'french fry/stir fry vegetable cutter attachment', which is an optional extra for the regular (non-metallic) model)
The design is thoughtful and the 650 watt motor really does the business. A handy addition to any quasi-serious cook.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stunning, 24 Feb 2004

This item is a dream to own, so quiet, smooth, effective. Chops herbs delicately yet blitzes an onion in seconds just as well. Not only does it work well it looks good in our refitted stainless steel kitchen!

1.0 out of 5 stars One star for its 'good looks' only, 25 Jun 2006
By M. W. Smith "Breadmaker" (UK) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
Read the reviews and thought this was an excellent choice to complement my smaller budget machine. A workhorse to make dough and prepare vedge for freezing I thought.
So I bought one unpacked it and was really pleased by the clean and attractive looks. But my delight ended when I plugged it in.

It has two major design flaws. Firstly the spindle speed is way to high, this makes the machine unmanagable as its sole purpose in life being to shake itself to bits. Secondly the blade holders and the lid have designed in nooks and crannies that are very difficult to clean. Magimix clearly recognised this problem and have provided a slim pointed plastic tool to 'winkle' out the bits of trapped food.

To make dough requires two people, one to hold the machine down and the other to add the water and hit the buttons. Failure to hold it down will result in a broken food processor on the kitchen floor.

The 'chipper' blade is so aggresive that you have no control over the feed tube as the blade sucks in the food at its on rate resulting in random shaped pieces and a lot of squeeged food between the top of the blade and the lid.
To add insult to injury, using the precise quantites stated in its recipe book to make soda bread, dough still found its way up the gap between the spindle and the blade holder requiring a fiddley cleaning job!
Basically do not buy one. I sent mine back and bought a
Kenwood for about the same price. Vunderbar it works great!
