This blender is absolutely fantastic! I make a lot of green smoothies consisting of lots of fruit and handfulls of chard, kale or spinach. The magimix cuts the greens up so well you don't even notice them. My old blender would still leave the greeens in chunks, i was getting tired of this and wanted to splash out on a new blender. I dithered for ages whether i should purchase a Vitamix at over £400 as this seems to be the holy grail for raw foodies, however after reading all the good reviews here I decided to go for the Magimix at less than half the price. And honestly, besides heating soups, I can't see what else the Vitamix can do that justifies the high price. The magimix blends everything to perfection. It has a setting for ice, smoothie, soup, dessert, pulse and then the option of settings of your own speeds from 1-4. I also ordered the grinder attachment and am so glad I did. I beleive it's very difficult to order the grinder seperatly at some later stage.
I am really pleased that I decided to go with the Magimix. It also looks a lot nicer on the kitchen counter than the hideously large Vitamix. And another positive is the very thick glass jug, as opposed to the polycarbonate jugs that most blenders (including the Vitamix) are made of. Polycarbonate is known to be toxic. Yes, glass can shatter however this glass is so thick I can hardly imagine it shattering while making smoothie. And I am very careful with it so as not to drop it.
My only gripe: in the beginning it stank strongly of burning rubber, which really worried me. If it were not for my husband, who told me the smell would go away with time, I would have returned it. However the smell did go away after about 2 weeks of use.
