    After reading the reviews on this I was a bit nervous about my purchase, but as there's a 3 year guarantee I decided to take the risk. I'm glad I did. I'm very happy with the kettle. It feels like great quality, heavy, strong, shiny, well made. I like the functionality, the light that goes on, the minimum level to make a cup of tea etc. Filling is easy via spout or lid that pops open. If you start to believe all the negative reviews there'd be no kettle with 5 stars on this website apart from one model by Philips (which is an ugly beast) it seems that every brand of kettle has the odd failure, and that that the people who leave reviews are the unfortunate minority to have had bad experiences, which is why I'm leaving this review, to say how happy I am and that I think this kettle is worth the expense!

    I've had my kettle for about three months now, and am completely satisfied with it. It does what it says on the 'magimix' tin. My one (minor) criticism is that the electric cable is black, whereas I think it would be a big improvement if it were cream/white to match the colouring of the product.

    I originally bought a kettle from John Lewis (previous model) which leaked badly. JL refunded my money as they didn't have any in stock. Subsequently found out the model is discontinued.
    Last week I bought this kettle from Amazon, but the lid kept opening even when the kettle was heating up which could have been very dangerous. (see also reviews of charcoal handle model) I returned this to Amazon yesterday and await a replacement. I hope that such an expensive kettle will have no further faults.

    Have had two of these (one cream handle; the other black) both from John Lewis. One wouldn't open without extensive persuasion (returned) the other leaks like a rusty bucket and will also be going back.

    Some of these high-price, high-design appliances could do with having a bit more attention paid to the basics (yes Cuisinart sandwich toaster, I'm talking about you too).

    Taken in by it's stunning looks I thought nothing of the cost and ignored checking the reviews. Not long after purchase I noticed that the lid continued to stick, so filling became a matter of sticking the kettle spout under the cold tap and guessing how much water I could fill it with. After a few months the electrical switch that you press to turn the kettle on failed, the result being the boiling hot water entered the kettle handle which I burnt my hand on. Customer Service from Magimix is terrible, they didn't want to know. I posted the kettle back to them with a letter of complaint asking for the them to arrange for a third party to test the kettle and verify my claim. They didn't listen, their testing department found the kettle to be in good working order. When I asked for my kettle back it arrived looking like it had been used as a football. Would honestly say stay clear of Magimix regardless of gurantee. The product looks great but is let down by a poor lid, poor electrical switch and terrible customer service.

    I've not encountered the lid problems which other have been unfortunate to do so and I would say that this is an attractive, fast-boiling kettle although somewhat heavy so bear this in mind...my problem with this kettle is that the filter often falls out, which, for a premium item, is unacceptable.

    I bought the magimix cream handle kettle from John Lewis 18 th months ago, I have experienced problems with over boiling without stopping and had to repeatedly turn it off........very dangerous. Now the lid has fallen off due to the plastic parts disintegrating. This was an expensive, dangerous and disappointing purchase.
