Very pleased 21 Nov 2008
I didn't have much to go on with just 1 short review but thought I would take the plunge and order this for my partners birthday. She wanted a DAB radio for the kitchen. I have to say we are both very impressed with it. Fistly the look and feel - when I received the item the box was heavier than I had expected it to be, I had looked at a work colleagues Pure One DAB radio that he had ordered from Amazon for around £40 a couple of weeks before and to be honest, although I didnt hear the unit, it felt a bit light and plasticy. This unit on the other hand has a completely solid feel to it build wise.
The touch buttons are great for messy hands in the kitchen. There aren't actually any buttons to speak of so i guess it reacts to touch in some kind of way. It will look great in any kitchen and particularly suites our new modern kitchen with its sparkly granite work surfaces. The illumination is also very nice - prodominantly blue for the presets with white on blue text. It has a power botton on the back and standby button on the front. When on standby it dimly displays the time and date. Touch any button and the whole display lights up for a few seconds. Quite neat.

Sound wise it is just as good with a solid sound, not tinny at all. I haven't looked at the manual properly as most men don't but when playing with it I couldnt find any bass/treble settings to speak of.

When I came home my partner had unboxed it and set it up. It sounded great but little did she know it was tuned into FM and not DAB so can't grumble with FM reception! I switched to DAB and can get all the stations with no problems. I was suprised at this because we live in a nutoriously bad area for reception being surrounded by high trees and woodland. I had trouble receiving some stations via DAB with my Denon hi-fi unit but not this.

I have purchased many electrical items on Amazon and other sites but this is my first review. The last reviewer is correct in saying that this unit doesn't have a USB port, but I'm not entirely sure why one would need it? It does have Aux socket and battery compartment but I doubt it's going to leave the kitchen anyway.

I would highly recommend this item over the Pure one and Pure One Elite if you want a solid DAB Radio with great looks and sound.

Nice little radio 20 April 2009
I bought this as a radio for my home office, as I didn't really want to have the main system on during the day. It has a nice sound, and was really easy to set up. However, maybe it's where I live, but it seems sensitive to where it's placed, which can make the difference between a good clear signal, and nothing. I ended up putting it in my kitchen, for best recepion, which works fine, as I can hear it perfectly well in the office from there. The thing that lets it down for me is that there is a seam running arounf the case, which spoils an otherwise classy unit.

Performance-wise, it's spot on for me.

Excellent sound quality. I like the touch screen functionality. Handy size, but maximum volume is inadequate. Would recommend.
