Product Description

Magical Roads shows that no matter where you are, teenagers deal with the same problems. This collection of short stories deals with topics like belonging, love, identity and hiding secrets from your parents.

In Growing Up Jaden is breaking with the life he is leading as he prepares to leave to the highschool of his own choice.
Age has nothing to do with how grown-up someone is, or at least that is what the girl from Hatchling thinks as she gets more curious than her parents would like her to be.
Traditions aren't for everyone, as the guy from First Summer realises.
Growing older doesn't always mean growing apart, sometimes it means the opposite. Macy connects on a new level with an old friend at their families yearly trip to the French Coast.

The four stories are between flash fiction and regular short stories in length, great for quick reads when time is sparse.

Now added, the first chapter of Black Sheep: Letting go of the Past, my young adult gay trilogy.

Total length of the book is about 6000 words.

5.0 out of 5 stars Magical, Poignant, Haunting... Atmospheric... 2 Sep 2012

What an astonishingly lovely collection of short stories!

Each little gem in this small book captures a truly magical emotive moment.
Oft times I wasn't sure where or when I was, but it did not matter as the lyrical quality of this authors style was simply amazing.
She manages to bridge the gap between poetry and prose, creating almost a new form of communication that caresses your emotions while providing true content.

They are stories that showcase moments in time, in places both familiar and then again not so much.
Haunting in the questions they instill in your psyche, yet somehow complete without the answers.
I found myself in my child mind where magic is a special, acceptable, almost ordinary thing and remembered my own magical moments when all was new, vivid, colorful and all was possible.

For reminding me of that alone the book is a must read. For the gift of voice this author has, it is a steal at the .99 I purchased it for.

I look forward to reading more of this author's work and encourage others to try this book out.
Thank you Kia Zi Shiru for sharing your magic with me.
5.0 out of 5 stars Magical, indeed! 30 Jan 2013

Each story in this collection is imaginative, taking the reader to a world where life is mystical and intriguing, while maintaining a connection to the problems teenagers face. Hatchling was among my favorites, though I won't spoil it for you here! Every story was unique, and I suggest you read them too.

Magical Roads contains four short stories, each taking the reader on a journey into someone else's life. My favourites were French Coast and Hatchling, although I enjoyed them all.
