I looked forward to reading this book, unaware that it is part of a series of so-called "magical" manuals. I love reading about fashion and need to reorganize my wardrobe, as it's become full of clothes that are now out of date or the wrong size, so I ordered this book hoping it would help. The word "magical" to me signifies something easy, not so much hard work! But in this book, it means just plain daft, "New Age" stuff - how to use crystals, dressing to attract good luck, and so on. Not something I believe in or wish to try. If you follow the advice in this book you'll end up looking like someone who's come to read the Tarot at a party! If that's the look you want, go for it. I'll give my copy to a charity shop.

Fun Book 10 Nov. 2013
By Melanie J. Harris - Published on
Format: Paperback
I admit it. I'm glamorously challenged. After having children, my fashion and style had taken a serious downturn. This book helped me get back on track with lots of cool ideas and inspiration to help anyone look their best, inside and out.

Truly what to wear 16 Oct. 2013

A great way to find yourself and let the world know who you are. Confidence and poise. Shy and dreamy. Find why you are drawn to the same thing and learn to love it or discover what you really should be wearing! Tess has a great voice, guiding the reader to discover what your soul wears, not what is "in". I recommended it to my book club!

Thoughtful, deep, inspiring, fun & supportive! 17 Dec. 2013
By BookLover - Published on
Format: Kindle Edition
I love this book! It's creative, thoughtful, innovative and grounding. It's not about striving for perfection, spending a lot of money or having to focus on consumerism and shopping. It is about finding and connecting with your inner fashion muse.

Dressing for the life you want is an intriguing idea to me, because it opens up myriad possibilities for the reader. How lovely to treat fashion as a creative expression that isn't just oriented toward pleasing a man or for career success. Rather, this book helps women further explore what they already know about themselves and discover other aspects. I'm finding that this book can assist the poets and the dreamers, the artists, the New Agers, the gardeners, retro hipsters, witches, adventurers, creatives, businesswomen and SAHMs tether themselves to various looks in a manner that is authentic self-expression that is fun, imaginative and grounding!

Not good at all 20 Mar. 2014

This book was on my wish list for months and when I finally ordered it I was so excited. The day it arrived I couldn't wait to start reading. What a huge disappointment. The book was too scattered, she didn’t stay on one subject long enough and while the book was supposed to be about fashion she went off on tangents so far that you forgot what you were reading about. It was more about astrology (which I love normally) and other things than it was about fashion. She had a great idea to start and quickly lost the thread. Honestly I wanted to give this one star, but I felt too bad to do that. A huge waste of my money and time and I regret buying it.
Also when the book came the cover wasn't right. It was off center and what was supposed to be the spine was in the middle of the front of the book. I didn't know this was a self-published book, they must only print on demand.

A quick and delightful fashion read. 9 Nov. 2013

Tess Whitehurst is an excellent writer on design elements, style, and magic. There are very few writers who specialize in this combination, and so I was eagerly anticipating the release of this book. I enjoyed it immensely. It contains real life fashion for real women, because beauty belongs to all women, not those of a given age, income, or body type. There is only one thing that I want to say that is not a criticism, merely an observation. I deliberately bought the printed book because most magic and design books have a lot of illustrations, which are easier to follow in a printed format. This one doesn't have illustrations or pictures, making it very appropriate for purchase in an kindle format. I love the convenience and space saving capabilities of my kindle and use it whenever possible.
