I've not had either the camera or the DVD for long, so still early days and therefore probably just the right time to right a review on a product that is a guided tour of the camera. The introductory screen contains all the 'chapters' which can be seen all at once (a bit of a marathon) or individually selected to help you fine-tune and consolidate your learning. And that is all it is. In my opinion, this is enough as it does an excellent job of simplifying and de-mystifying this frankly fantastic camera. That said, this DVD takes you logically from turning the thing on, to attaching/removing the lense/s, using the two memory formats (xd and CF), changing various or all the settings; reviewing, saving, protecting and deleting your pictures ... the list goes right down to the last knob and button. It is NOT a guide to digital photography techniques - I'll have to find something else for that - but it is a comprehensive, no-frills, fairly jargon-free (some photo-babble cannot be avoided) guided tour that really did give me the necessary knowledge to fiddle with settings and get some reasonable results. Used with the manual that comes with the camera, and the remote control of your DVD player to constantly pause and rewind, this is a great little helper and highly recommended.
So, why only three stars? Well, on some aspects it does niggle: it is a little too brief in some areas (like setting the quality of capture) and it could be a tad more detailed on the important areas like how to focus/set shutter speed/aperture in manual mode. Also, it's a bit brief on the use of the built-in flash. However, the introduction this DVD provides to these functions is just good enough to get you started.
