Product Description

CD Description

2010 digital remaster of the classic Badfinger album, released as part of a celebration of the best ouput from Apple Records.

Badfinger were the most consistent of all the Apple artists releasing four albums. Magic Christian Music was the first and was recorded at a time when they were still known as The Iveys. At that time the group consisted of Pete Ham, Tom Evans, Ron Griffiths and Mike Gibbins. Paul McCartney had been asked to write the theme and produce two other songs for the Peter Sellers/Ringo Starr satire movie "The Magic Christian". He went into the studios with the Iveys and came out with a hit record. The subsequent album released just over a month later in January 1970 comprised of these three tracks, other new recordings and some re-workings of titles included on their Iveys album that had been only in a few countries in the previous July. In total Paul produced three tracks on the album with the others produced by Tony Visconti and Mal Evans.

This 2010 edition includes five bonus tracks. These include previously unreleased versions of "And Her Daddy's A Millionaire" and "I've Been Waiting", "Mrs Jones" (remix) and previously unreleased mono mixes of "Sali Bloo" and "See-Saw Granpa".

Product Description

cd delivered promptly, first class service.
This CD is cracking and does full justice to the original Badfinger recording.
The sound quality is excellent and sounds amazing on my Grado SR80 headphones.
This CD is definitely recommended.

Come And Get It 24 Sep 2004
Format:Audio CD
The Iveys have now become Badfinger. Paul McCartney has gifted them a sure fire hit in "Come And Get It". Some of the songs from The Iveys album are added, and a few more good songs are written to complete this album.

The album sounds a little dated today, but it reeks of potential, which was soon to materialise in the later "No Dice" and "Straight Up" albums.

Well worth a listen

It says something about the quality of Paul McCartney's output that he could afford to give away the song, 'Come And Get It'. Naturally, it was a big hit. 'Magic Christian Music' is, however, one of Badfinger's less interesting releases, simply because half of the tracks had already appeared on their gorgeous, but unnoticed 'Maybe Tomorrow' album as The Iveys (check that one out).

The new songs are mostly pleasant, upbeat, if lightweight, rock songs. The exceptions are the outstanding ballad, 'Carry On Till Tomorrow' and 'Walk Out In The Rain' which, though commercial, sounds like something Engelbert Humperdinck would record. This album gave Badfinger a deserved foothold but their inheritance from The Beatles was to be at its most rewarding on the next three albums.
