This is a delightful combination of reminiscences and recipes. It was intended as a sequel to 'Maggie's Farm' and from the author's comments she found it just as difficult to produce. The fact that she has done so in a style which is so easy to read shows how careful and painstaking she has been.
As with all such books half the fun is in the imagination. Think of preparing the recipe then anticipate the enjoyment of eating the results and obtaining the plaudits of the family.
Maggie Beer generates this feeling of anticipation extremely well.
