I was really looking forward to watching this film, but it has to be said it was a big disappointment. It was lacking a good plot and the actors could have been cast better.
If you are looking for a lesbian film with a good story, this is NOT it.

I have to say, I'm surprised the writer/director can sell this film without embarrassment. The only good thing about it was the cast; Amy Thiel portrayed her character, Annie, with integrity and sincerity, and the young Jennifer Steele, who played her daughter Jenny, was also impressive.

That's about the only nice thing I can say about Maggie & Annie. The plot was ridiculous, the script cliched, and the camera work at times embarrassingly amateur. The sound quality was truly awful, swinging from loud to soft to hissing within one scene. The soundtrack was made up almost entirely of identical-sounding female acoustic, and Kimberly K. Wilson, the director, seemed determined to wring out every last drop from each song by playing them distractingly underneath every scene. And I like female acoustic! What's more, the film smacked of so many cliches and stereotypes that it alienates its core audience: the two female love interests meet on a softball team; straight-turned-bisexual Annie cuts her hair short right after sleeping with Maggie ("Do you like it? I did it for you." "I love it."); and the bisexual decides she needs both a man and a woman simultaneously to keep her needs met. But the film doesn't even explore this utterly ridiculous concept with integrity; it cops out right at the end by (surprise, surprise!) killing the lesbian.

Poor, poor, poor. If you like lesbian films, independent films, or just films that make any sense whatsoever, do NOT watch this.
