Product Description

Natural born shaman, Magenta Sweeney is torn from the comfort of England's green coast and sent on a terrifying trance journey by the very guides and guardians that claim to protect her. This time she must do as she is told. This time – she has no choice.

In Magenta Shaman Stones The Crow Maggie finds herself eight hundred miles from home, wandering the Bohemian forests of the Czech Republic in a final, desperate attempt to rescue the father she'd long believed dead.

As the bleak stone walls of ancient Houska Castle loom through the trees the shaman must prepare herself as never before.

And when the Gates of Hell open to invite Magenta in, she is forced to make a decision – one that could be her last.

More Magenta Magic 18 Nov 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Darkly enchanting prose, as intricately formed as the curls in filigree work, and allegory woven into the story adds richness.
A tense and atmospheric read, set in a vividly drawn otherworld of spirits and shades, timeless and dangerous.
Pure escapism. More Magenta, please...

Mystical elegance... 15 April 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I've been tardy in meeting Magenta Shaman. Lily Childs' creation, a `natural born shaman' already has a cult following. I may be at the back of that pack, but I am now a fully paid up fan.

Magenta Shaman Stones The Crow is part of a developing series, but dipping into this particular episode I found a complete story, albeit one that has a past and a future.

The characters in Stones The Crow are well-established from Lily's previous work. And yet I was still able to have my own relationship with them. It could have been a baffling story, but I instinctively understood.

There's a mystical elegance to Lily's writing. I began to imagine her in a room, lit only by candle. Carefully she would ink a talon and perfectly execute each word upon the purest velum. Don't tell me she sits in an office, please.

As a fan of realism, I was particularly interested in the notes attached to this work. Learning of Lily's inspiration for the setting gave a fascinating insight into her creative process.

Fans are already asking when Magenta will appear in a full length novel. I'm one of them.

Superb Sequel 9 Dec 2011
By LesleyR
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Magenta Shaman Stones the Crow is a superb sequel to Magenta Shaman. From the start we are taken on an epic journey that is completely compelling. There are two stories here, a deeply moving love story interwoven with a vividly created fantasy world that feels real and raw.

Lily Childs has a love affair with words and an even greater one with her characters. That affection leaps off the virtual page and it's hard not to get caught up. It's also hard to be disappointed, especially when the end takes you somewhere you weren't expecting.

Fantastic stuff and I can't wait for more Magenta. Much much more.
