Magellan 300 Roadmate,

I wanted a straightforward GPS for the car without spending £500 plus. The Roadmate 300 is slightly larger than some of the competition, but the screen is very clear and bright and very easy to read in daylight. It took only 3 minutes to lock on to its current position when switched on for the first time. The menus are easy to follow, the mapping is very comprehensive, and the countdown instructions are extremely easy to follow. Re-routing is very quick, and the points of interest are endless!!An excellent machine for the money. Only minor downside is lack of internal battery which means it can only be used in the car

Gloria, as she was quickly christened, came into my life 12 months ago as a birthday gift from my husband. When she's good, she's very very good. When she's bad, she's horrid.
It helps if you have an idea of where you are going. She tends to stick to main roads, so you could go a long way around on a local route, but when you are faced with a diversion in an area which you are not familiar with, it's a godsend to be able to go "off route" with the confidence that she will guide you to whare you need to go. I have two real gripes with the unit: the antenna on the back never really fitted properly and drops off easily. I'm looking for it right now and I can't see that you can buy spares. It would also be nice to be able to type in a postcode for your destination (maybe I'm being dense and haven't been using it properly) but I haven't been able to work out if it will take a postcode. Other than that, me and Gloria are great pals.#
