Product Description

A slave since the age of eight, Lark has been brutalized and victimized. When he finds himself the property of Lord Naeven Sactaren, a mage as frightening as he is beautiful, Lark is thrown into a life of magic and quirky friends that force him to change in ways he never thought he could. Inexplicably drawn to his master, lark struggles against his own fears and desires as he works side by side with the seductive mage. Never has he been so enchanted by anyone, which raises a frightening question: Would Lord Sactaren bewitch his slave in order to lure him into his bed? In a world where sex is magic and lust is power, can Lark trust what he feels, or has he simply been Magebound?

An Excellent Read 16 May 2010
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
This book originally started as an online book, written up chapter by chapter before finally getting published. It is the first in a set of stories, for there was (when it was being posted online) more there than was published in this book. These further books have not yet been published, but I am looking forward to their release.

The book is set in a fantasy world, and has a gay romance based theme, so if you are not looking for that, perhaps this isn't the book for you. It does deal with slavery, for one of the main characters is a slave, however if normal writings of this sort put you off, you should still consider taking a look, because it deals with it in a way not normally seen in other books, and while there is (has to be for this sort of background) some drama, it is not overarching or smothering of the plot, nor does it delve into the S/M theme that many gay romances tend to lean towards despite the character background.

I found the book witty and entertaining, sometimes very emotive, and the mage and alchemy work seen in the story is not something I have seen much elsewhere. It does step outside the normal fantasy realms most mage books tend to exhibit and include characters you want to know more about. Overall this book is a page-turner, and I would certainly recommend it to others, and already have. Katica Locke is an excellent author and one I would like to see far more of in the future as her writing talent is considerable.

Couldn't put it down 30 Mar 2011
Format:Paperback
As the previous reviewer, i had followed this story when it was uploaded on the internet chapter by chapter. To have it published and n my hands to read when away from the computer is even better!

The story is fantastic, characters are engaging and, despite having read it before, i couldn't put it down. It really is the type of book that you can go back to again and again.
