Book Description

30 Jun 2013 Mageborn
Seven years have passed since Mordecai’s battle with the Shining God, Celior, and since that time his control of his abilities has vastly improved. He has at last envisioned a use for the ‘God-Stone’, but the gods want vengeance and now seek to destroy everything he has built. The secrets of the past threaten the future of his kingdom, his family, and perhaps humanity itself, unless Mordecai can discover the meaning of ‘Illeniel’s Doom’. How far will a desperate wizard go to protect his children… or will his efforts merely damn them all?

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply SUPERB 30 April 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
MgM has exceeded all expectations with this, the penultimate of the Mageborn series. Mordecai has entered darker realms in his efforts to protect his family, friends, and powers.
I laughed, and I wept. There are moments of gentle humour, but there are many more minutes where my anxieties as a reader meant I feared to turn the page.
Strangely, I don't know which emotion is to the fore on finishing this Mageborn masterpiece - regret that I have came to the end of book 4 in The Mageborn series, or relief that I can give overwrought senses time to recover. Well done, Michael G Manning. Absolutely brilliant!

5.0 out of 5 stars simply amazing 1 May 2013

when if picked up the blacksmiths son, the first in this series. I was dubious to say the least so many self published books had scared me with the poor quality of the editing, the bad word choices and awful pacing. I was tempted to sell my kindle at this point. but along came manning. the whole series is full of wonder and magic, laughter and sorrow, knowledge and mystery. to say this is worth a read is underselling it. but to be honest I just don't have the words to do the book justice. buy it you will not regret it

5.0 out of 5 stars Great continuation! 30 April 2013
By MRF
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The story of Mordecai (arch mage, wizard and smartass!) continues about seven years on from the events in The Arch Mage Unbound...older, sometimes wiser and just as engaging and self-deprecating as before! I have noticed a growing trend for authors by book four to either run out of ideas or produce a filler before the conclusion in book five....definitely not the case here!! The high quality of the first three books is maintained and I was really sad when it ended (I tried to read slowly, but the events happened thick and fast so I couldn't put it down!). It said at the end that the next book - The Final Redemption - would be 'coming soon'.....I do hope so!

5.0 out of 5 stars A fantastic read 20 Jun 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Like the previous books,The God-Stone War continues to entrap and intrigue: I couldn't put it down. Michael G Manning, imbues his hero with a lovely sense of humour (which I suspect is much the same as his own). This gives the main character greater depth and offers the reader a real sense of him as a 'reality'

5.0 out of 5 stars I want book five now.......please 28 May 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
If you are reading this then the chances are that you are already deeply involved in following the lives of Mordecai, Penny and all the other wonderfully crafted and detailed characters that populate the Mageborn series. If for some reason you are not then you are missing out on witnessing the birth of a great new talent in the fantasy genre
From the first slightly predictable but still entertaining novel in the series it has been fascinating to watch Michael G Manning develop his style and skills as a teller of tales, weaver of plots and master of twists. This fourth book of the five planned is a rollercoaster ride of page turning excitement and gut wrenching emotion from first page to last.
Some long needed answers to questions come out. I even got answers to some mysteries I didn't even realise we're there until they unravelled before mind's eye. There is still much to resolve and that's why I now wait impatiently for book five
Darn it MGM you know how to leave a cliff hanger now get writing! All of us on Facebook will be nagging you incessantly until it's on our Kindle waiting to be read

I thought book four took a while to get going but once into it really enjoyed it. If you're into this genre then it's a good read.
