Product Description

Mordecai has discovered his heritage and must take up the mantle of a lord of the realm, while figuring out what it really means to be a mage of the line of Illeniel. He is beset on both sides by allies and enemies trying to control or destroy his future. Gods and kings both seek to manipulate him for their own ends, and no matter what he chooses his loved ones will suffer. Will he risk destroying his love with a bond that might be her death, or face the madness that comes to wizards who embrace power without restraint?

This book is great! All good "Sword and Sorcery", pretty heavy in places, but Michael Manning's style is light, witty, and irreverent towards the more traditional S&S style. A tad to Americanised, perhaps, but I like it!

I came across the first book by chance, I just liked the title, and sought out the second. The actions of the main character and his supporters were about as henous as you could imagine, slaughter on a truly epic scale, but done with charm (I know, that sounds really crass, but it works - have a read if you don't believe me). I don't really see how the author can top the deeds in "Mageborn: The Line of Illeniel", but there is a third due out soon (the sooner the better), and I it looks to me as if this author and series are really going places.

I Loved the Mageborn. It sucked me into the point where I read book 1 and immediately book 2. I could not put them down and so read one within each day. I loved the balance of humour, thrills, magic,battles and friendship. The way mordecai 's emotions were described and the tensions. Not happy now that I have to wait for book three to come out!! I was on a roll reading them. Hurry up Mr Manning!

Once again Michael G. Manning has created a masterpiece. As with the first book this one grabs you by the neck and steers you down a road of magic, thrills and fights. What a great read and again I couldn't leave it down I just had to finish it.

Roll on the next one I can't wait........

Great plot, good charaters, compelling to read.

Ive never understood why Mother Nature was so clueless with regard to my moods. Women were supposed to have excellent intuition after all. Then again I had long suspected Mother Nature was a bitch by choice. "e;
