Dense, factual and readable -- generally refrains from critical comment. A great companion to "Rock Family Trees", "The Great Rock Discography" and "The Rough Guide To Rock". Couple of minor mistakes don't devalue the book, but the choice of artists is a bit eclectic -- slightly too much recent chart fluff with no staying power in there for me, but then again there's PLENTY of space for it.

I'm a TV Music Researcher for a Welsh magazine show and purchased this book as a research resource for a variety of items I'm working on at the moment. Not only did it help me with these items, but proved interesting, and informative. A good read for any music fan.

Any book of this type will get this criticism, but there are a number of artists who I can't understand why they were included, and just as any I'm amazed were omitted. Leave it to be controversial to the enthusiast, as otherwise it is excellent.
