Have yet to use the map in Madeira but can certainly recommend this on the basis of its detail and the quality of the "super-durable" material it is printed on.
I also have the Kompass 1:50,000 and the Tour & Trail map is the better of the two (which is a very positive recommendation given the high standards which Kompass products set). Whilst the Kompass map is already showing a bit of wear and tear from folding and unfolding during initial research, the Tour & Trail is clearly a lot more robust.
I can't yet vouch for accuracy on the ground, but it is clear from background research that the Kompass map is more "ambitious" and shows some routes that are so seriously exposed as to be impractical for most people (Levada Nova do Norte - have a look on YouTube [...]). The Tour & Trail is evidently more cautious and omits tracks which are referenced in some of the guidebooks but need a bit of mountain experience. An important attraction of the Tour & Trail cartography is that it marks exposed sections and also links to walks described in the separate guidebook.
If I have criticism, it would be that a 1:25,000 scale would be more appropriate to the terrain, especially on a relatively small island. But it is a minor point given that most of the walking is by necessity along established trails and the requirement for cross-country route-finding is likely to be very limited.
