Product Description

The Rough Guide to Madeira is the ultimate pocket handbook to this beautiful semi-tropical island. Lively accounts of every attraction on Madeira and its neighbour Porto Santo are included, from the capital, Funchal, to unspoilt fishing villages and mountain escapes. Insider's reviews of the best accommodation, cafe's and restaurants feature alongside detailed information on walks along the levadas, mountain trails and coastal paths. Together with colour photos and maps showing the island's towns, beaches, walks and main attractions, the Rough Guide to Madeira is essential reading for anyone visiting the island.

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent short guide, 3 Oct 2006

This was a great find. It really helped fill in gaps that my other 2 guides didn't. My only complaint was the few colour pictures, most are in B&W. The descriptions were all accurate as far as I could tell and the cafe/restaurant recommendations were useful. The fact that it fits in a pocket was also handy.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not up to usual Rough Guide Standards, 16 April 2005
This review is from: Madeira: The Mini Rough Guide (Miniguides) (Paperback)
We left this behind after our holiday since we felt it was not worth keeping. unlike other rough Guides, the format failed to give a feel to Funchal or Madeira. reading it did not give a sense of familiarity with the ground and the information in it, although comprehensive was hard to find.
More useful was Discovery Guide to Madeira.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent General Review, 23 Oct 2006

This is an excellent, detailed guide book. Summarising the key sights and activities with colour photos at the beginning and then going into more depth later in the book. Definitley recommend this book as your guide to Madeira. And it includes a CD-ROM. Great value through Amazon.
