Product Description

Product Description

Asian influence is evident in all facets of British life, including food, fashion, music, and design. In celebration of the unique charm and graphic invention of Asian design, Reed Darmon, author of the popular "Made in China" and "Made in Japan", and co-author Kalim Winata have created a beautiful, and inspiring collection of vintage Indian design. The hundreds of images packed into this delightfully compact book include folk art and religious iconography, book and matchbox covers, Raj-era postcards, household product packaging and ads, Bollywood posters, toys and games, and other colourful and irresistible ephemera. A stylish object and graphic essay in one, "Made in India" is an extraordinary glimpse into the heart of Indian pop culture.

Perfect Blast of Nostalgia 8 Sep 2009
By Jagannadhan Ravi - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
As an Indian who has spent most of his life outside the Motherland, this book "touches the right spots" for me. Much of my exposure to India had been through movies that I would sit with my parents and watch. Many of my fond memories comprise of the lines "Ma, what did she just say?" or "Pappa, how come they change their clothes so fast when singing?". This book reminds of those times. The author has gone to great lengths to find the posters for these movies, and in flipping through these pages, the memories come back. A great romp through memory lane. My thanks to the author!
