By The Soft Machine Operator TOP 1000 REVIEWER
Format:Audio CD
Excellent album from a long forgotten 1970s Swedish prog band. It's quite a mix, with the opening track being very much like 1960s/1970s jazzy rock. Some frantic guitar riffing and equally frantic drumming. Vocals are smooth, and reminded me of Wishbone Ash on the 2nd track. By the time we reach "Chicago, Mon Amour", the sound has billowed with orchestral arrangements and some gentle melodies and acoustic guitar. Quite fantastic. The following track (Love Samba) starts off like something Soft Machine would do before launching into scat vocals, driven by frantic riffing on bass and guitar. This soon gives way to an extended, mellow guitar solo and then a drum solo.

This is a good find from Esoteric! I particularly like the variety - definitely one for fans of the jazzier side of prog rock.

Great, GREAT early 70's rock 12 July 2001
By "anglagard" - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
Released on CD for the first time in 2001. I had heard made in Swedens first effort from 1968 but I didnt find it that exciting. This however is another story. Made In Sweden was a trio consisting of Bo Häggström (bass), Tommy "Slim" Borgudd (drums) and Geroge "Jojje" Wadenius on guitar/song. The sound is that typical flowing 70's rock that still have a lot of 60's atmosphere in there. Of course the guitarist gets the most spotlight here and steals the show. He is a very famous swedish guitarist, having played with many bands, including among others Blood, Sweat & Tears. The sound also reminds of some jazzrock-bands also. They open with "Winter's a bummer", a real showcase. Everything is here, the fluid guitarwork backed up by a powerful, very 'sparkling' bassplaying and the jazzy drumming. There are also some calmer tracks here, with some very tasteful arrangments. Also a more bluesinfluenced track occurs in the end. "Love Samba" is another very cathcy and 'smoking' track, allowing the members to stretch out and flex their 'musical muscles'. "Winters a bummer", "Mad river" and the last track "Little cloud" are my favourites here. Eight tracks filled with that special early 70's sound. This album contains so many elements and different styles, all done by three extremly capable, talented musicians. Hard to sit still to, easy to giv e five star rating.
Absolutely Great unknown band! 27 July 2005
By Speedy - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Audio CD
The first thing you tell yourself when experiencing this band is ' how come these guys are not better known?'. The quality is up there with the best of 'em : Soft Machine, Supersister and Guru Guru ('Dance of the Flames' era) are some of the bands that come to mind when listening to Made in Sweden...but they have their own brand of prog-pop-rock-fusion. Every song is memorable and sticks in your mind for days on end. Also the instrumental bits are excellently played and the guitarist is specialy great. Highly recommended if any of the bands mentioned tickle your fancy.
