sweeter than sweet 23 Feb 2011
By K. Platt TOP 50 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback
Adorable cross-stitch motifs with every girl's dream theme- cakes and all things sugary, sweet and nice. Beautiful layout, easy to follow charts and good photographs. The actual instructions for making the items that the cross-stitch is on, ie. a bag, cushion, bib etc are very general - cut material to make a bag - there are no dimensions and this will put some people off. This book is for those who are confident in making the actual items themselves, it excels on the cross-stitch charts. This review first appeared on Karen Platt's book review website.

Good enough to eat :-) 6 April 2011
Format:Paperback
I ordered this book on a bit of a whim after seeing it recommended on the mothers day gift page. I am a keen cross stitcher and love to stitch things like cupcakes and sweet treats especially as cards and gifts. Like the other reviewer I have found the book to be beautifully set out and the charts are excellent. It is also one of those books that is pleasant to browse and I have spent lots of time trying to decide what to stitch first.

Format:Paperback
This book is ideal for someone who already knows how to cross stitch and has existing knowledge of sewing and embroidering. There are no instructions on how to cross stitch or read the charts so not suitable for a beginner. There are charts for everything sweet - from French breakfasts, wrapped sweets, Christmassy gingerbread men, wedding cake, ice creams, gateaux, cupcakes, gingerbread men, chocolates, lollipops, cooking utensils, tea pot and cups and even bunting and balloons. Also alphabet and numbers, wrapped presents and a sweet little ladybird. DMC thread colours are listed beside each chart. The first part of the book contains pictures of examples of how to use the embroideries - napkins, tea cosy, bags, cushions etc. - but the author assumes you have a knowledge of sewing and fabrics and does not give any pattern instructions. I found it delightful and inspirational.
