5.0 out of 5 stars Simple and beautiful 5 Sep 2009
Format:Paperback|Amazon Verified Purchase
There are many books on all kinds of embroidery but this was something missing entirely. The books is presented very much as a book for cross-stitch, but it contains more.
There are three sections, a red, a white and a blue section, the colours refer to the thread used. In each section there are plenty of patterns, all incredibly simple to complete, and they can be used on virtually anything you have in your house; the stitches used are few, mostly stem stitch and cross-stitch.
What I like best is that one can spend time embroidering something which is cute and useful, not having to worry about intricate design and switching colours, while doing something else like chatting or watching TV! And the results are guaranteed to invite compliments from your friends.
I copy the patterns by using regular tracing paper and then I tape it to a window and tape the fabric on it, so that the drawing can be copied with a pencil from the tracing paper to the fabric, it is all very easy.
Additionally it gives me pleasure just to browse through the book, it is beautiful and simple.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy it, buy it, buy it! 27 Feb 2010

Format:Paperback
This is a stunning book.

It is broken down in to ideas in Red, White and Blue, although all can be used or interchanged. It contains both cross stitch and embroidery patterns, with clear intructions for each.

The illustrations and photos to give inspiration are beautiful and very simply elegant in their style.

I recommend this book very highly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stylish designs 16 Jan 2011
By F. Pullen TOP 500 REVIEWER
Format:Paperback
Part of the Made in France series by Murdoch books this book breaks the designs down by colour, into red, white and blue. The book incorporates embroidery and cross stitch designs onto a range of household and clothing items including a cushion, bags, a dress, a t-shirt, a lampshade even shoes. These simple designs will allow you to jazz up existing items or create new ones for yourself or as gifts.

The book is split into 3 sections, one for each colour and contains over 50 projects. Each section starts with full page photos of each of the projects in that section and is then followed by pages of the designs and motifs used in the pictures. Uniquely for a craft book there are no written instructions, just the odd word on the designs to tell you the type of stitch required.

The designs in the book could be used in a range of projects, which makes this book a good reference guide for any embroiderer/cross stitcher.
