Book Description

15 Jun 2010 Collection of Basic Instructions (Book 2)
Comic and cartoonist Scott Meyer is back with yet another book of bad advice wrapped in good intentions. Learn such important skills as How to Talk to a New Parent, How to Engage in Prefight Smack Talk, How to Complain about Work, How to Properly Perform a High Five, and more! A former stand-up comedian, Meyer channels his extensive and varied wit into four panels of side-splitting culture commentary every other day or so and posts them to his website, Dark Horse's second collection of those Basic Instructions, Made with 90% Recycled Art, will likely spend some time on the copy machine before certain pages find themselves on cubicle walls worldwide.

4.0 out of 5 stars Funny and clever 18 Sep 2010
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Basic Instructions is the four panel comic strip produced by Scott Meyer and this is his second collection, and very worthy it is too. The four panel format of his cartoons has sadly limited the author's exposure and syndication which is a real shame as his work is both very clever and funny.
You can check the strips out by searching on the Basic Instructions website, but Meyers takes subjects such as "How to Wake someone up" or "How to keep a secret" and presents them is a way they we will recognise and understand. The humour is a little like the famous Scott Adams Dilbert dealing with both domestic and work nonsense (I wish my name was Scott so I too could be clever and brilliant - I blame my parents) and a great spin on the stupid side of life. An introduction from his wife is surprisingly touching and the afterward from one of his friends and frequent victims helps frame the contents and gives us a little more insight into the author. Many of the pages have a note from Meyer giving background which also adds tot he experience.

This is great stuff from someone who deserves much greater visibility and recognition.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Basic Instructions" is awesome, even the second time around. 16 Jun 2010
By David Goldberg - Published on
For those of you who've never read Scott Meyer's amazing webcomic "Basic Instructions," you're missing out. It is, perhaps, the funniest thing on the net. And while you can get most of the comics for free, I'd still recommend the collection, for the simple reason that you are not going to spot all of the jokes the first time through. That, and Scott leaves little Easter eggs for devoted readers, and you're going to want the comics in book form so you can flip back to get all of the references. Read this, and support the awesomeness.

Basic Instructions is the coolest comic I've seen in awhile. I can relate to his characters and how they get abused! Buy it, heck buy all three and wait for the next one to come out!

Scott Meyer is one of the most thoughtful and entertaining humorists writing today. His Web comic can give you a free taste at basicinstructions . net. I doubt that you will be disappointed. Buy this book!
5.0 out of 5 stars LOL 28 Dec 2012

Basic Instructions is one of my favorite comic strips. Unlike some comic strips where you are lucky to get one laugh per strip, Scott Meyer has multiple punchlines per strip. Everyone has their own brand of humor, but this one hits me perfectly. I highly recommend it.
