5.0 out of 5 stars Quality Microphone 15 Sep 2009

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
If you are looking for a microphone to use with Rock Band or Guitar Hero: World Tour (which is what I bought it for), this is a great item. The build quality is good as the microphone is sturdy and the button layout is fine.

Performance is very good, as the mic picks up your voice clearly and comfortably. Although manufactured by MadCatz, the packaging and microphone (or M.I.C. as it is called, standing for Microphone Integrated Controller...oh dear) are officially branded as `Rock Band' so I assume it is all fully licensed. As I mentioned, I have been using the mic with Guitar Hero and it has worked a treat.

It is not wireless, so plugs into a USB port on the front of your 360. The cable is a little bit on the short side, not too much as you can stand/sit a reasonable distance from your console but you can't move around a great deal. But for this price it's a small niggle as the mic is still well worth buying.

5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely helpful microphone 30 Dec 2009
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
To put a controller actually on to the microphone was a stroke of genius, and saves a lot of hassle in having to use a standard controller whilst singing in Rock Band or other singing games.

First of all, the microphone is wired with a cable length of 2.75m (9ft). This is a bit on the small side, as the original Rockband microphone was over 4.5m (15ft) in length. Though as long as you don't sit more than 2m away from the console, you should be fine.

The controller that is built in the the microphone isn't a completely fully functional controller, but will work fine with Rock band and other music games, without the need to connect an extra controller, which is the biggest plus of this unit- removing the need for the extra controller. The buttons on the microphone can also be locked and unlocked easily to allow for a fuller grip on the mic during songs without the worry of pressing the buttons on the mic, which is a nice feature.

The microphone feels a bit lighter than the original Rock band microphone, and the grip is more of a soft touch velvet like feel than the original plastic, which I feel is a plus though some may not like it. The microphone is also officially licensed, so you get a nice Rock band logo too.

The microphone definitely works with Rock band 1 + 2, and Guitar Hero. Not sure on other singing games but I imagine it should work fine on those too. All in all, an excellent buy for singing games.

5.0 out of 5 stars Not for LIPS 2 Mar 2010
Verified Purchase
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
As everybody said, this is a fabulous microphone for RockBand and Guitar Hero games, having the buttons and d-pad is a great idea. But for those of you asking about the compatibility with LIPS, please be advised that this microphone IS NOT CURRENTLY COMPATIBLE with the LIPS game, it will only be recognized as a controller. If anybody know how to use this microphone with LIPS please let us know.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great piece of equipment. 22 Oct 2009

Got this a little after getting the Guitar Hero 5. Really does do its job well, don't get upset if you are doing badly on songs though its not the microphone its how you sing it!

It's really handy because of all the Xbox buttons and things right on the microphone so you don't have to fuss about using the controller or something else to actually navigate through the menus and what not.

Great piece of equipment for a good price.

5.0 out of 5 stars if i were you i would get one of these ASAP 16 Mar 2010
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
So, basically, this is a bargain and a piece equipment that all of you guys who enjoy musc games should get. 9 bucks, shipping included... come on... i've read complaints about the buttons not being responsive enough but i didn't feel that myself. plus, the d-pad on the GH guitars are ridiculously unresponsive but no one cares because they are there just to navigate menus and for that purpose you dont need such an amazing thing.
to my surprise, i received what seems to be an evolution of the first model and it clearly says RB2 on the packaging, the only difference being the disposition of the buttons and the ring thingy that frames the mic wiry thing, which is grey instead of black. The only con ive found in my only attempt was that it feels kinda cheap because its really light (its a toy after all, right?) but the convenience of having the buttons build in makes up for anything else. One last thing to mention in favor of this thing is the size, which in spite of its lighter weight, is closer to a real mic. 5/5

4.0 out of 5 stars Handy 19 Feb 2010
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Using the standard microphone and controller combo can be a hassle, and this mic solves that problem. It's as simple as that.

This is now my primary microphone for Rock Band, and I occasionally find myself using it to navigate the XBox dashboard after having played Rock Band. Simply because it was more convenient than reaching for the remote controller.
The only niggle is that the main directional controller is a little finicky and took some getting used too. But this is more a concern outside the game, in-game the combination of a good microphone and controller is perfect.

This mic works really well with Rockband. Although I don't normally like the quality of Madcatz accessories, this is an exception and the quality seems fine. Read more

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!
This product is really tough, works really well and you can totally see the plus side of having the buttons on the controller because you do not need to use two of the USB slots.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good quality microphone
It works and has no flaws. Occasionally in Rock Band games I have to turn up the sensitivity to activate overdrive, but that may be a game issue. Read more

The quality is great, controls being on the mic itself are useful caus you don't need the controler. However, we find the wire too short (wich is the reason I gave only 4 stars). Read more
