I bought these drums mainly for their portability (the official drums take up a load of space, which I don't have) but was extremely surprised by their quality.
I've played on the official Rock Band drums and was shocked at how cheap they felt when playing. Way too much plastic and they felt like the pads would crack if I carried on playing for too long. I also hated how noisy they were (wooden drumsticks + plastic pads = horrible noise). These drums, however, are completely different. The drum pads are rubber instead of plastic and feel great when playing. The included drum sticks also have rubber tips, which also help by reducing the noise when playing. They are also extremely responsive. I found with the official drums that notes could be easily missed if you hit slightly too close to the edge of the pad. There is no such problem with these drum pads. The bass pedal is also of great quality. It's still made of plastic but it is much wider and shorter than the official bass pedal. This means that there is much less chance of the pedal snapping when in use (one of the common faults with the official pedal). The controller section of the drums (with the d-pad and guide button etc) is easy to use and feels like an old NES or Master System pad (oh the memories). As for how to place the drum pads: any type of table will do (I personally use a small coffee table) as long as it's a suitable height (you don't want to hurt your back when playing). The bottom of the pads are also rubber so they shouldn't slip around the table during play. The bass pedal also has rubber strips as well as small carpet grippers (which can be removed if you have a non-carpeted floor). I've been extremely satisfied (and slightly surprised) with these drums and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a set of drums for Rock Band. Oh, one last thing, these drums will work in both Rock Band 1 and 2 as well as Guitar Hero World Tour.

About the quality: 4 out 5. The drumkit is very good but in my experience, when you hit the pads normally (not at full force), it's best to hit in the middle to have a 100% response. Since you can move the pads freely, it's not a big problem and you can correct the distance of the pads.
About the noise: 5 out 5. the most quiet drumkit ive seen so far. About the kick pedal: 5 out 5. larger than the official kit, very good. Overall for the rock band fans : 7 out 5.! in Europe, this drumkit is cheaper than the official and available. Good solution when you only want the drumkit and good quality too. and compatible with all games on X360. Thank you amazon to have this one available.

Got this for Guitar Hero World tour as I already have a guitar from an older version of the game and it is great! The wires are all eailsy long enough and don't seem to get tangled. The actual quality of the drums is very good with a rubberised coating and sturdy feel.
The only negative thing I can say about them is the drum sticks come in 2 parts that screw together and they do have a tendancy of coming undone. Overall I would more than recommend this product to anyone.
