Humor that accurately represents humans and the foolish ways they act 18 Aug 2006
By Charles Ashbacher - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
There is no humor quite like that found in Mad Magazine. It is always funny, occasionally spiteful, often biting, sometimes sarcastic, and generally contains an enormous amount of truth. In other words, it accurately represents humans and their foibles. This collection is "dedicated" to fathers, how their actions affect our lives, and how they can be so absurd.

I enjoyed this collection of essays and cartoons. For better or worse, I occasionally recognized myself and how my daughter (I am a dad) and I interact. Some of the best humor is that which makes us laugh and recognize and reevaluate some of our actions and character traits. This book contains that kind of humor.

If Dad Doesn't Laugh...Run! 2 Oct 2010
By Philip S. Wolf - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover
This is one of those little books that you are going to find in the same aisle that has all those fancy greeting cards. It will no doubt hit the shelves the day after Mother's Day (while you are looking for her card!) But, this isn't a book full of mushy sentiment and little fuzzy bunnies, this is Mad!

Taken right off of the pages of Mad Magazine, this is a tribute to Dad, as drawn and scribed by: "The Usual Gang of Idiots" and you know who they are. Don Martin, has many cartoon strips featured here, as does Dave Berg, Jack Davis, Wally Wood and George Woodbridge. And the big news to report here is that most all of this material is from the "Classic" Mad period that began in 1952 and lasted through to 1970, when it was all outta control and very, very funny.

Next year, skip that sappy card and give Dad this fun little book. This humor is going to take him back to the days of when his father was threatening to stop the car, and reach back into the backseat and smack him a good one.
Ah, those sweet memories!

mad about dad 11 July 2011
By Mick Taylor - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Hardcover Verified Purchase
I wasn't familiar with this title in the Mad portfolio, but received it as a recent father's day gift. It was the usual recvycling of old material but seemed fitting to the occasion and a quirky little volume it was too.

Not as good as the usual Mad fayre but a nice addition to the collection of Mad literatiure.

Ps Liked the cover!!
