Everyone seemed to be talking about Mad Men, a show I'd never seen, so I figured I would check it out. OMG! I absolutely loved it and can't believe I missed this when it was on tv. Beautifully shot, gorgeous styling, great storylines, funny and dark all at the same time... and a little bit of a history lesson too. I have told everyone I know to get it! Cannot wait for season 5!!!

At last a TV series you can enjoy watching for several reasons, for the very talented actors and actresses, for the perfect locations and renditions of the 60s, for the soundtrack as well as for all the vintage details in it.
Only one suggestion: please, don't believe you are dealing with a true and faithful documentary of the era, here.
Although this is a very carefully crafted work, it is just a fictional reintepretation of 60s life, as seen through modern and contemporary disillusioned viewers'eyes like ours.
Maybe it's just sort of a nostalgic reflection of the iconic image we made of those years, as filtered by our memory.
All'n' all a brilliant reflection, indeed!
On a more technical side, this box set includes 12 discs featuring all of the first 4 seasons of the show at a very convenient bargain price. Also they include nice extras about topics of the era plus a special commentary by author Matthew Weiner.
Now, dim all the lights, insert the dvd, pour some good wine into your glass and... enjoy your trip along that magical Avenue!

Format:Blu-ray
I love absolutely everything about this show - believable characters, interesting situations, unbeatable writing and dialogue, very accurate set pieces and historical facts - this show is as next to perfect as you can get. It is essential viewing where you will be hooked after just an episode or two.
On blu ray the picture is superb - very crisp and sharp, however I have found the audio to be slightly on the quiet side. Don't let that put you off though, this is probably the best TV show that I have seen since The Sopranos - HBO Complete Season 1-6 (New Packaging) [DVD].
