First of all this game may not be for everyone, if you are looking for a game with sharpe gameplay, crisp sound/picture, and longevity then this might not be for you. HOWEVER if like me you remember back in the 90's watching and being wowed in the Arcades by the live action shooter, and daring to pay a WHOPPING 50p per credit then you will not be disappointed.
In this latest re-packaging of the Wild West franchise you get the complete Mad Dog trilogy on 1 'budget-priced' disc, and considering the games were originally created on Laserdisc (and with the Wii not having DVD capability) the graphics and sound are both quite good. The same however cannot be said for some (if not all) of the acting in the game, but for me this is what made MDM what it was... The bad and OTT acting, laughable scripts and the cardboard-like settings gave the game a good old fashion 'B' movie feel. If you dont take it TOO serious, then MDM is enjoyable!!!
The gameplay itself is not bad either, its not 100% but then thinking about neither was the Arcade version, its just ur simple light-gun theory... point, and shoot. The beauty of this being released on the Wii is that there is no costly hardware to buy, the trigger button is there on the Wii-mote, the cursors on the screen so there's nothing more to it!
There are 3 settings to the games, I have been playing on the hardest setting and its not too simple, on later levels the characters do appear in random places which is good cos it gives a bit of uncertainty and so not as easy to memorise the game. The quick-draw levels are also not too simple, some you win, some you lose... just like in the west.
The multiplayer modes (either working together or as seperate Bounty Hunters) are good too, I haven't spent much time playing these but from what I've seen they offer plenty of fun.
In conclusion, if you are a serious gamer, one who likes to pick up a game and play it to death till you've finished it then this might not be for you 'cos I reckon the game could easily be completed in several hours of play. However if you just want a pick up and play shooter game (whilst briefly feeling like Clint) or like me you want to re-live the 90's with a bit of nostalgia gaming then you really cant go wrong with Mad Dog McCcree's Gunslingers pack cos at this 'low budget' price you'd probably be spending less than you would be 'back in the day' paying 50p a go... Even the novelty of owning the Wii's first live action shooter is worth this price, nevermind the fact there's 3 games in it!
... now if I could only shoot that damn Undertaker!!!!!
