This cable is the only way to get photos off your Gameboy camera and on to your PC. Please note that more recent PC's lack a Parallel port which is required to use this cable. I have heard that USB to Parallel port converters do not work.

It also requires Windows 95 or Windows 98. It can work on Windows XP but will require installing some special driver and complicated setting up. Will not work on anything newer than Windows XP at all.

For me I used an old Compaq Pentium II laptop running Windows 98 and getting this working was a breeze and within less than 5 minutes I was copying photos from my Gameboy camera over to my PC.

One end plugs into the parallel printer port and the other into the EXT port on the Gameboy. This will work on Gameboy pocket and newer. It will probably work on an original Gameboy if you use an adapter but I have not tried.

What this cable and software does is it emulates the Gameboy printer meaning when you select print from the Gameboy camera it will send the picture to the PC instead of the Gameboy printer. You can then save the image as a BMP file.

Excellent stuff so long as you have a parallel port and are running Windows 95 or Windows 98.

1.0 out of 5 stars one day i will get it to work on somethiong 2 Aug 2010
Fun: 1.0 out of 5 stars
who uses win 98 anymore ,the software might be good if i could reconise my printer port or use a usb adapter or be able to change its input address without having to uninstall software then reinstalling software to get to the guess your printer ports address, the instructions are in the box but dont seem to be relavent to my machine winxp, this product seriously needs updating usb plug and play done, but noo it makes you climb round the back of your maching for no good reason, internet advice boils down to try on a load of different computers and it will work on one of them,v poor as it is ,i would be so happy with this product if it worked terribly for me, as it is it just uses space in one of those todo piles of things that im not really looking forward to doing.if anybody has any help for me please comment

4.0 out of 5 stars It does it! 6 Aug 2000

It does exactly what it says it will. I allows you to transfer your Gameboy Camera pictures to your PC. I have only two issues with it:
1) You have to transfer the pics one-at-a-time. This makes transfering all thirty pics kinda slow.
2) Its not Windows 2000 compatible. The cable has a PIC chip housed in the parallel connector and I expect the software communicates directly with the chip. NT4 will definitely work and all my testing so far shows that Windows 2000 doesn't work with it either.
It does work well with Win95/98 and it better work well with Windows Millenium Edition due out later this year.

3.0 out of 5 stars Know your parallel port settings before installing 1 Oct 2000

Installation of the software part of this product was a little tricky, as I had to tweak the parallel port settings in my system BIOS a little to get it to communicate with the camera. Other than needing to work out these particulars, the program works well, accepting individual images from the Gameboy Camera's "Print" menu. Images are 160x144 pixels (including the frame area) and 16 shades of gray bitmaps. You can't transfer animations except as individual frames. You can print images in various sizes directly from the program, and send the bitmap files as attachments in most e-mail programs (maybe not AOL).
