The probelem with more advanced economics textbooks is this: they either have too much math that doesnt show anything or are too simplistic to be of any use. Branson, however, easily avoids his colleagues' pitfalls: in a comapact and useful manner, he covers a vast amount of macroeconomics, going into adequate detail and using formulas when necessary in a persuasive way. Why only 4 out of 5 stars? It is a bit old and the presentation of the material needs dusting. But for somebody who can see beyond that and is interested purely in macroeconomic theory, Branson is a splendid buy.
