Old, but not outdated 24 Jan 2003
By A Customer
Format:Paperback
The probelem with more advanced economics textbooks is this: they either have too much math that doesnt show anything or are too simplistic to be of any use. Branson, however, easily avoids his colleagues' pitfalls: in a comapact and useful manner, he covers a vast amount of macroeconomics, going into adequate detail and using formulas when necessary in a persuasive way. Why only 4 out of 5 stars? It is a bit old and the presentation of the material needs dusting. But for somebody who can see beyond that and is interested purely in macroeconomic theory, Branson is a splendid buy.

Comprehensive 2 May 2000
By A Customer - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This is one of the best "Introduction to Macroeconomics" books I've ever read. It's well structured, comprehensive and understandable. It also explains the mathematical and analytical framework of the theories introduced in the book very well.

this book is a best choice for the first year postgraduates. it explains the IS-LM model and AS-AD model and introduces the rational expectations.
It's 2011. A 1989 Text Is Very Dated 5 Mar 2011
By H. Sansom - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
There are classic economics texts that are great reads for many reasons -- historical interest, understanding the origins and trends in economic thinking, great exposition of principles that remain largely unchanged, etc. Paul Samuelson's "Economics" (the original edition was re-released upon his death) is a perfect (maybe _the_ perfect) example. As of 2011, this macroeconomics text is 22 years old. It's dated.
