I absolutely love macro photography. I've been shooting tiny subjects for about 8 years now, and have always wanted a ring light. They just been way to expensive. On a whim, I decided to search Amazon to see what was out there, and wouldn't you know it. An affordable macro ring light! The price didn't really warrant any thinking through the purchase.
Upon opening the box, I was a little worried at how the unit would perform. It is very light, and made of what feels like cheap plastic. No issue with me considering the price. I popped in some batteries and went out shooting. The unit doesn't put out a ton of light, but it is just enough for my needs. I use it on a Tamron AF 90mm f/2.8 Di SP A/M 1:1 Macro Lens for Pentax Digital SLR Cameras, and it works wonderfully. You can adjust the ring to be on left, on right, on all on (left and right). This is very helpful if you want to control the reflection in your subject a bit, or highlight a specific part of the subject.
Products like these are often hard to be critical of because of the price, and that is where I land on it. For around thirty bucks, it is a steal.
