I was looking for something a bit different to read and someone on one of the discussion boards mentioned Pat Califia. I had read some of his short stories before in different anthologies, but this was the first book that I got that was just by him. When I thought of getting something by Patrick the sexy cover of this book instantly struck me whilst browsing on this site, and I am glad to say that in this case you can judge a book by its cover.
This book contains eight tales, seven being short stories, and one, 'The Calyx of Isis' strictly speaking being a novella. There is the piece on AIDS as well as the original introduction, as well as some new things for this edition. There is a foreward, a preface and a new introduction as well as a review and about the court case that Little Sister had to fight in Canada to allow this book to be imported. The stories contained herein can all be read as sexual fantasies and take in a whole plethora of fetishes, also there are not just tales here that are solely sapphic. Some people may be excited by these tales, whilst others may find themselves disgusted, so if you think that bdsm and all that it entails may offend you, please do not get this book.
If you are into the scene or like reading about it, or indeed want to read something that little bit different, this book won't disappoint. Just remember to leave any prejudices at the door. This book will appeal to a whole lot more peope than just the lesbian community.
