Quite simply one of the best live funk recordings ever (the other one being Maceo's 'Life On Planet Grove' CD).

If you like funk, get this DVD. Even if you haven't heard Maceo before (which you will haveif you've ever listened to James Brown) you'll love it. If there was a sixth star with which to rate this DVD, I would have used it. It really is that good.

this is actually better than soul power , there is no scaffolding of the show like in soul power , you get to see james browns best band members talk and play that REAL james brown funk , if your a JB collector then you will adore this , excellent and very funky ,Maceo Parker - My First Name is Maceo [DVD] [1996]

I think I saw Maceo on this tour in Blackheath 1995 - but not sure.

The musicianship is outstanding. Favourite tracks have to be the 10 minute version of 'Let's get it on' (better than Marvin G) and 'Shake everything you've got' (lets hear it for the drummer!!)
