About the Author
Thammy Evans lived and worked in Macedonia for five years as a political advisor to NATO HQ Skopje, and continues to give independent advice and analysis on Macedonia to the British Foreign Office and Ministry of Defence. She served in Bosnia with the British Army in 1996 and 1997, and has a second home in Croatia.

Great guide with lots of detail - maybe a bit expensive if just visiting the capital but if you are travelling outside it contains lots of useful information and the latest edition is very up to date - we didn't come across anything that was outdated or wrong. Would recommend.

Very nice guide. Almost complete. Macedonia is a beautiful country to visit, specially Ohrid and its hundreds of churches ! Skopje is nice too, but better wait at least 2 years before going, because all the city is under construction ( lot of monuments, buildings from the Skopje 2014 project).

All other guidebooks of Eastern Europe sadly only include the Ohrid area and Skopje. If you want to see/know about other parts of Macedonia in detail, this is the only book that provides you with information. It is invaluable to help plan a trip to Macedonia, but the tone is a bit dismissive or negative at times. I miss the upbeat, fun tone of Lonely Planet, Let's Go and other guides. I am thankful that there is a guide dedicated to Macedonia but will stick to other guides for better covered countries.
