About the Author

In 1987, the year Gary Rosenzweig started college,Drexel University in Philadelphia had the foresight to require every student to purchase a computer. Better still, they required that computer be a Macintosh.

From the 1987 Macintosh SE with two floppy disk drives and a little monochrome screen, to his current 2009 Mac Pro with two four-core Xeon processors, Gary has always owned a Mac.

His Mac was his primary tool used in creating games and websites from 1994 to the present day. But it wasn’t until 2007 that he took his love of Macs to the professional level with the launch of the MacMost site and video podcast.

At first,MacMost covered Apple news each week. But soon it evolved into a more frequent show with tutorials, tips, news, and reviews. The website grew as well, featuring iPhone games, ringtones, a weekly newsletter, and other features.

Gary has also written many books, most on programming using Macromedia/Adobe software like Director and Flash. He lives in Denver, Colorado, with his wife,Debby, and daughter, Luna. Also a dog and too many cats.

The home page for this book is http://macmost.com/book/, but if you are interested in more information about the author, you can also visit Gary’s website at http://garyrosenzweig.com and follow Gary on Twitter at http://twitter.com/rosenz.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Book for beginning Apple enthusiast. 29 Mar 2010
Format:Paperback
I initially bought the book to see and get a feel for the iMac and Operating System before I got my computer. But getting the book has made me want to get my computer sooner than I can, but I will just have to wait.

I found it a good book all round, espically for a beginner Apple convert.

5.0 out of 5 stars PC2Mac 7 Aug 2012
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Just bought Mac Book Air having been a DOS/Windows user for the last 30 years. I needed something to guide me through the MacOS which is NOT as intuitive as 'they' would have you believe! This book does it! I am now a happy Mac user - it is a portable dream - but I still prefer my PC for serious work!

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the book I wish I could have read a couple years back when I bought a MacBook 16 Oct 2009
By Shawn Collins - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
The MacMost.com Guide to Switching to the Mac by Gary Rosenzweig is the book I wish I could have read a couple years back when I bought a MacBook.

I heard all of the Mac fanboy chatter about "once you go Mac, you never go back." But I got it, played with it, preferred the PC and went back.

The MacBook was nicely designed, but I was underwhelmed by it after all the hype. In the afterglow of experimenting with it, the MacBook has largely been a coaster for my drinks.

But after reading MacMost.com Guide to Switching to the Mac, I have to reconsider the Mac.

Back when I bought my MacBook, I was excited to edit video with it and got a "Quickstart Guide for iMovie." But those hundreds of pages didn't give me much of a quick start.

Then I looked at this MacMost.com Guide and found the simple basics for iMovie in just a couple pages. And that's typical of this book... it covers all of the questions and issues I had back then about moving over from a PC.

One thing I liked a lot about the MacBook was the built-in camera. I've had a couple Dell laptops with the built-in camera and they didn't measure up for recording video.

Anyhow, I am thinking of giving this Mac thing another try because of this book.

And I'd definitely encourage Mac users to check out the site of the book author, Gary Rosenzweig: [...]

5.0 out of 5 stars Great reference material 11 Dec 2009
By S. Berkemeier - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
This is a well-written reference book for a first-time mac user. I love the organization of the book. I plan to read it in my downtime, but I also think it is great in order to come back to a specific area or topic. Apple offers a user session when you purchase your Mac, but a text tutorial is great for someone who would like to learn a Mac on his or her own time. In addition, this is much cheaper than the session Apple offers.
I recommend this for anyone switching to a Mac. I plan to share this with my father who is also switching to Apple.

4.0 out of 5 stars Most from the Mac 22 Dec 2009
By Dennis J. Omeara - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
I'm normally a fan of David Pogue's "Missing Manual" series books but have enjoyed Gary Rosenzweig's podcasts enough that I gave his book a try. As I'm a long-time Mac user, I actually bought the books as gifts for 3 friends who recently switched from Windows to Mac. So far all have enjoyed the book's tips and have commented that it is well-written.

5.0 out of 5 stars PLEASE BUY THIS BOOK - YOU'LL BE GLAD YOU DID! 7 April 2010
By Susan J. Ryan - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback
I've been following Gary for some time now listening to his podcasts and going to his website. With this book as a trilogy, he adds his clear, succinct, easy to understand information. I have learned more from Gary than I have from Apple sites, Googling, and Apple One to One sessions. This is a must have; it's also a great gift to give even people who know how to use the computer already; there is a lot of great information. Thanks Gary!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Help for first time mac users 11 Feb 2010
By Mr. G. Davidson - Published on Amazon.com
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
Having purchased my first Apple Mac it was straight down to the library to look for books on the subject. I was lucky, they had just brought in a copy of MacMost and it set my mind at rest straight away. I can honestly say it is the first ''user guide'' I have read that directs me to a problem and provides an answer.
