It was nice to read this one, which revealed how everything came about in the series. I found the story very emotional and the betrayal lingered, literally. A very good read.

2.0 out of 5 stars Poor 11 July 2014

Lacking in many areas but the biggest areas were the style of writing and historical context. Too modern to be correct and storyline unbelievable except by a naive teenager. Not for me

This I think was the first in the series and I enjoyed it, but you really do have to read the whole series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Simply beautiful.. 17 Jan. 2014

You must read these books if you are a romantic and like a list twist to your characters.
Even though these books are 'young adult' and not normally what I would read, and I have read the whole series now....... they are beautiful, gripping and well written. Give them a try, you will not be disappointed. I read this book after the the first, but that was not a problem as it was great to get a bit more detail to the characters.

5.0 out of 5 stars The MacKinnon Curse 19 Oct. 2013

This book is very short and tells the other side of the story from the previous book. I was just getting into the story when it ended, this shows how the author captures the reader.

3.0 out of 5 stars A very short book for teenagers 6 Jun. 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I got this book because of the title and it was set in Braemar which I visited often when I lived in that area. I thought it was going to be about the ancient Clan wars but it was not. I wouldn't have got it if a. I realised the author wrote teenage romances and b. if I had known it was just a novella - a long "short story" really. It should have been tagged on to the following book - The Deepest Cut - as it was really just setting the scene for that book. I have written a separate review about that book which I downloaded at the same time as this one.

I am only glad I didn't pay for the book and I will not be reading any more by this author, though I am sure teenage girls and those who like romances will like the series. Just not for me, sorry.
