Product Description

About the Author

Born on a North Dakota cattle ranch, Lois Greiman graduated from a high school class of sixty students before moving to Minnesota where she professionally trained and showed Arabian Horses for several years. Since that time she's been a high fashion model, a fitness instructor, and a veterinary assistant. But an incurable case of writing fever put a stop to all those occupations. Since selling her first book to Avon in 1992, she has sold twelve other historical romance novels, most of which are set in medieval Scotland and involve her very popular Forbes clan. In an attempt to pursue her love of humor, Ms. Greiman has also recently sold three romantic comedies to Harlequin Enterprises. While caring for three children, fifteen horses, and a menagerie of pets on her small farm in Minnesota, Ms. Greiman writes full time, producing two or three novels a year and garnering much praise from readers and reviewers alike. Affaire de Coeur called HIGHLAND WOLF "magnificent." Romantic Times proclaimed LADY AND THE KNIGHT"...pure magic." Christina Dodd proclaims "Lois Greiman delivers....The Fraser Bride offers delightful characters, breathless adventure." Her Highland novels have received Affaire de Couer's Critic's Choice Award, Romantic Times K.I.S.S. Award, and been nominated for Romance Writer's of America's prestigious Rita. Her titles have appeared on Barnes and Nobles Best Selling Romance list and won her the Midwest Fiction Writer's Rising Star Award. --This text refers to the Paperback edition.

A light hearted read. Not to many characters. Also a long book for the price. So often they make the book short and it is reflected in the price. But I enjoyed this one . Very good.

i persevered for a long while but eventually conceded that this was the most boring book I have read in a long time.i skipped a lot of the pages so I could get to the end. funnily enough the last two chapters were the best of the book. I will not be buying the third book, sorry .

A fantastic romance 30 Oct. 2001
By Harriet Klausner - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Mass Market Paperback
In 1535 Scotland, every lass desires Gilmour MacGowan except apparently, Isobel Frasier, twin sister of his brother's wife. Though he can have just about everyone, Gilmour wants the one he cannot have as he admires Isobel's independence and fire. She rejects his advances though secretly inside her heart and soul she covets Gilmour, but believes that she must forgo love and relationships because her clan needs her now. Additionally, he may be the enemy.

Gilmour begins his quest to win Isobel's heart, but soon concludes he already has that just like she has his. Instead, he realizes he must overcome her obstinate beliefs that personal relationships will interfere with her helping her clan. He knows he must prove he cares for her clan as much as she does and that together they can defeat any foe. However, Gilmour will soon learn how much he underestimated the strength and determination of his beloved.

Though characteristic of a sixteenth century Scottish romance, MACGOWAN BETROTHAL is a strong tale because the key two players provide readers with a humane look at the era. The story line is fast-paced and Gilmour is a mighty male star that female readers will happily adore. However the stalwart lead female protagonist owns the plot as her actions, compassion, and inner strength moves the audience as easily as she moves the tale forward. Lois Greiman has written a wonderful Highland Rogues novel that entertains her fans just as her previous stories have done too.

Charming! 19 Jan. 2014
By Clair Winston - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
The second book in the series, this one is just as entertaining as the first. I found the heroine to be capable and witty and the hero strong and sexy. The MacGowan brothers are a riot! Always looking for adventure. I love the banter between them as well as their loyal bond. These stories make me smile.

This book drags... 20 Feb. 2014
By Kathi Brown - Published on Amazon.com

It just can't hold my interest...not enough action and to much wondering what another is thinking and not really a story line. I'm halfway through the book and still don't have a clue as to what/why the characters are
doing what their doing.

I read a lot and have read approximately 35 books since Christmas. Normally read Laura Griffin, Nora Roberts, Elizabeth Lowell and after reading books by these authors "The MacGowan Betrothal" drags.

Lois Greiman has a wonderful sense of humor but does need to have a firm well thought out story line rather than depending on a weak attraction between two characters to hold the readers interest throughout the book. If the attraction was intermingled in a action that grabs the interest it would be a good read.

Fun read 4 Mar. 2014
By C. Watson - Published on Amazon.com

This was a nice change from my heavier reading. There were frustrating times woven throughout the book but intrigue did keep me reading till the end. This definitely is not for teens due to the descriptive nature the author used in some of the more rancorous episodes. The ending was fairly abrupt after all the descriptive foreplay throughout.
