Having had PC's all my life, I felt it would be a refreshing change to buy a Mac. The only problem was I had no idea how to operate the thing! It lay dormant on my desk for a while, feeling unloved and collecting dust. Eventually I felt I had to do something, so I bought Mac OS X for dummies. I have to say this book is excellent. The information provided is set out in an easy and readable manner, without being overly technical. It takes you through Ilife/imovie/idvd and even teaches you how to edit a movie! It also teaches you how to backup your work with Time machine, manage & set up your emails and gives you loads of handy tips on getting the most out of your system. If, like me, you convert to a Mac having used PCs all of your life. Then this is the book for you. It is laid out in a user friendly way, in laymans terms so to speak.

I used and valued "for Dummies" books when i was a PC only user. On switching to Macs I bought this book. It is remarkable, not for what it says, but for what it does not say. It is very poor as a source of answers to your queries about operating your Mac. It is little more than a catalogue of all the wonderful things a Mac can do, plus the author's self glorification as the Mac Guru. Would be fair value at a third the price.

Even worse than the previous Mac for Dummies books. None of the simple information for 'dummies' is available - eg how to sort out labels/addresses/printing - could be that the old iMac was better!
