Works but not as well as it should,

I was surprised to see that the cable is a full USB to full USB, not the mini USB normal for external drives. It works most of the time, but has difficulty connecting some times. I would not want to rely on it for every day use. I used it for getting data off a swapped out drive, and for that it was okay. Spend a bit more and get something better.

Good but flawed,

I ordered one of these, a lovely blue one (MY-Link 2.5" USB2.0 IDE External Hard Drive Case Enclosure (Blue)).
It has worked well from first use. No problem there at all. It comes with a Y USB cable with one leg being 6 inches long than the other, 14 inches. It also comes without any instructions. I assumed that the Y cable was provided so that one could provide signal and power and the other was there for additional power from a second USB socketif required. It seems to work properly with either connector alone. And why two different lengths? My problem (the flaw) is that the electronics and disk are held in the case by two very tiny screws that screw through holes in the metal case and into holes in the plastic surround on the electronics. The first time that I screwed the thing together the plastic on one side broke around the screw hole. Now it is held in by one screw only. This retaining method is not very suitable if you are going to be changing the disk several times. Something more robust would be better. Lummo

My Link External Hard Drive,

Well this little box does what it is supposed to do, though what it says on the box is a bit out of date! Yes it does work with Vista even though it only mentions OS' up to XP. It comes with screws, screwdriver, and soft case for transport. However, I would reccommend that you have a sturdier pozi screwdriver to hand if you want to avoid damage. I use it for creating backups of laptop drives on my main PC, so I can't vouch for its long term integrity and performance.
