The item was not PVR ready via USB when received (beinge either faulty / not checked by the seller prior to delivery / not upgraded prior to delivery) although described as such - a firmware upgrade is required to make this receiver PVR ready via USB. Version 1.59 is obviously preferable to version 1.38 but how would one know about versions of firmware upgrade. The 1.38 version does not allow playback of recorded files.

Seller stated that this model is a budget item and does not have full PVR facilities - and having bought this item I can confirm this. Seller gave no information on which firmware upgrade to load or where to obtain a reliable download.

There are other receivers (Comag and Technomate - super) at comparable prices that work straight out of the box - and these PVR facilities do include rewind / FFWD etc With the Technomate - super you can even program recordings straight from the EPG.

I bought a Technomate - super USB (at a cheaper price) to replace the faulty MVision S4. The Technomate is a far better quality receiver all round - gaining the What Satellite Best Receiver award.

Advice - if you want a cheap quality reliable fully functioning satellite receiver and are contemplating the MVision S4 then don't make a mistake - get the Technomate - super USB instead.
