5.0 out of 5 stars Old mystery gems still sparkle 6 Sept. 2014
By LIBRARIAN - Published on Amazon.com
You cannot fault the choice; these books (mostly novels with several short story collections thrown in) are all great, old-time mystery classics for those who enjoy such fare (by which I mean it is important to approach them with the proper mindset and realistic expectations, because they tend to be more detailed, more descriptive, more atmospheric, and slower paced than modern mysteries). The price is low, the formatting is great, and an active TOC takes you to all content.

Since virtually all of these authors have written many other mysteries, this set can serve as an introduction to further investigation in the Kindle Store. If you do so, you will discover a plethora of their works for free in public domain editions. But you will also discover the very same 20 volumes contained in this bundle are there, too, and also for free. Therefore, do you wish to acquire them individually at no cost? Or are you willing to purchase them (for instant gratification) in this low-priced, convenient bundle? In part, your decision may depend on how many of these you already own (since most die-hard fans of old-time mysteries probably will have conducted many prior searches in the Kindle Store under "Kindle free books mysteries" to accumulate a goodly number of them). Still, this IS a handsome ebook set of famous old-time authors, and the stories in it ARE entertaining and enjoyable, and you DO get a lot of them, and the price IS very low -- so you really can't go wrong by purchasing it.

I've enjoyed these stories so far, these are different but very interesting. I have read about five. Each is unique to the time period it was written in. If you like English literature you will enjoy this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars I enjoyed these very much. It did take me several weeks to finish the books. I found myself reading late into the night. 14 Dec. 2014

I have told several friends about these books. The books were rich in detail of the time period but not overly done. Just enough. I had a great time reading these books.
