OC Genie II provides an instant performance boost, optimizing CPU, memory, integrated graphics, and storage device performance with the function enabled. MSI ClickBIOS II provides a consistent user interface both in the UEFI BIOS and in Windows, it provides the most convenient way for users to control system settings and supports touchscreen control. Winki 3 is a free Linux-based O/S which is based on the Linux core. With an ultra-fast booting speed and a multi-language interface, the built-in Winki 3 provides an easy-to-use internet environment that includes the most popular functions such as internet surfing, web mail, instant messaging, picture browsing, and more. It's the most practical way to be online in the shortest time. USB Safeguard can prevent mainboards and USB devices from being damaged by short-circuit and ESD (Electro-Static Discharge) with Anti-ESD chips built-into the mainboards. Additionally, the safeguard can protect against such dangers multiple times, and greatly improves product lifespan. Capacitors are the most important component for electronic product's power supply. Compared with many more expensive motherboards, this is lacking several features. There are no USB3 ports, for example, and only four USB2 on the backplane. But you can buy a PCI or PCI-E USB3 card for under a tenner.

Similarly, there are only two memory slots. But that gives you up to 16GB of DDR3 RAM. (It's considerably faster with two SIMMs operating in dual channel mode.) And the four SATA ports are revision 2.0 (3 Gbit/s) rather than the twice as fast SATA 3.0, but your hard disks probably won't get close to that.

The BIOS is very friendly, offering simple overclocking and a neat integrated browser which can be used without starting up an operating system. Ideal for when you've messed up your OS and need to find the solution...

So, it could be better, but if you are on a budget - and you probably wouldn't be looking at an AMD system with their very nice integrated graphics if you weren't - then this is worth looking at.

(Update: the MSI website now reckons it supports 16GB SIMMs, giving you up to 32GB of RAM if can afford it.)

I just got this motherboard and paired it with an A8-5600K. No problems installing it nor getting it to run.
It runs cool (26 celsius), looks great. The BIOS version is 11.4 while the latest is 11.5 which means mine already supports Richland.

The BIOS has lots of settings but it is easy to use. It is somewhat limited in terms of overclocking: If your APU/CPU has an unlocked multiplier, then you change it in the BIOS. The base frequency can only be increased to 105 (which in my case makes my APU go to 4GHZ). The CPU voltage can't be changed.
My A8-5600K is running at 4.0GHZ with the multiplier set to 40 and the base frequency at 101.

All in all, it is a very good motherboard at a bargain.

Its basic, lacks advanced options, is pretty stripped down in terms of connections, but has HDMI and is more than enough for an honest home PC to plug into the TV! It actually has quite a neat settup in bios thats easy to follow by any enthusiast attempting to do a DIY build. The back panel is pretty empty but thats not necessarily a bad thing as many older style connections that I'll never use have been omitted. I bought the basic G-Skill 4GB DDR3 1333 Dual Channel Kit memory and A series A4 5300 CPU with onboard graphics card, both of which perform fine. Adding a Western Digital 500GB 2.5" hard drive and putting it into the cheapest case with a 350 Watt power supply and I'm very happy, especially as all in, it cost a tadd les than 200 quid! As an internet / smart TV, it works well.

I've used these in budget office/home PC builds for other people with AMD A4 APUs. Yes you can get cheaper boards, but going cheaper than this can be a false economy. The MSI boards are well made and well supported, leaving room for future upgrades.

Highly recommended for building a compact PC.

This is a perfect motherboard for cheap builds. Didn't think I'd find one for this price with an integrated HDMI outlet. Works great.
