5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book 7 Jan 2010
By GW
Format:Paperback
This is an excellent resource for studying towards Paper 1 of MRCPsych. In preparation for Paper I used notes from popular study courses in the UK and most of the other MCQ study books. This book, in my opinion was the best - its format was concise and easy to use. The questions were very relevant to actual questions I was asked in my exam (Nov 09)and the answers provided were great to study from - evidence based yet straight to the point. I found this was one of the best texts for studying for Paper 1 and would strongly recommend that trainees use this book in addition to wider study as it certainly helped me pass my exam.

I would like to congratulate and thank the author for creating this book. This book has given lot of important information about exam techniques, which I was never aware of and this has completely changed my approach to answer MCqs. I strongly believe that the author has been very honest and realisitc, has compiled this book trying to address all the nerve wrecking diellemma's about preparation which I find very useful.

The most Important reason I would strongly recommend this book is that I felt the questions seemed very much similar to how they would be asked in the real exam situation. Here I dont mean to say they were repeated or they came in the real examination, instead I felt it familiarises you with the language they use in the main exam.I have used some other books in which the questions were mainly very very straightforward and after doing them one would assume that the main exam would be similar and easy ,which is not the case.It may be a similar concept ,but presentation of the questions is very tricky in the main exam, this book helps you to approach these questions with confidence.

Explanations to all the individual questions is another reason for my recommendation for this book.I have learnt lot of concepts from the explanation provided ,without needing to go through reference books .

On the whole this book is an execellent taster of MRCPsych and it does serve the purpose.

5.0 out of 5 stars Psychomaster 15 Dec 2008

Excellent book for candidates preparing for the new MRCPsych exams.

It is clearly matched to the new syllabus and provides detailed explanations with references for all 450 questions.

I am sure that this book will be extremely helpful for both trainees and trainers. I also liked the introductory chapter on how to approach the best of five questions with useful tips.

Good effort by both authors.
