As per other reviewer, the display is very dim, there is no chance of seeing this outside (unless it's a moonless night). Must admit I thought the sound was rubbish until I used a half decent pair of earphones, so if you do purchase this the first thing to do is throw the earphones in the bin, they are not even worth keeping as a spare pair. Now sound is much better. Lucky I just listen to track after track in general and don't faff about selecting this track then that track. If you want to do that then purchase a much more expensive and superior Sandisk, for which I brought this to replace having lost it and not wanting to spend so much in a replacement.
The operation of the player is reasonably straight forward, its best to have earphones plugged in when turning on as once you hear a slight sound let go of the button (else as other reviewer said it will switch off again), then if you are in a dark coal cellar you can see the display come on ;) ... still even with all the bad points it's good value for money, hence the 4 stars

*** I have reviewed the title now, (it was "good value for money" and previously 4 stars) ... I paid £6.39 last time I brought one of these and that was less than a year ago. The price has been hiked by more than double (today it's £14.99), so now I don't think this is good value for money any more. I was only looking back to see what maximum size micro sd card I can get as I threw away the instructions, (after all who needs them as I am a man !!!)

I bought this MP3 player as a present for a 6 year old.
Connecting it to the computer and transferring songs on to this is simple enough. It registers a mass drive on windows 7. You just open the drive and drag the songs in to it. simple.
my 6 year old was pleased to have a small MP3 player of herself but unfortunately she wanted to use it outside when she played.
Needless to say that the display in any sort of daylight is completely unreadable. She could never tell what track she was on.
Only three days in to the purchase and the display stopped working. There was nothing there although the MP3 player worked.
The standard headphones supplied with the MP3 player do not play sound very well but it's no big deals as you can buy other ones relatively cheap that are much better.
So it is now back with the seller and my refund on its way. I will have to look at a different one but the cheapness of this shows in the quality of the product.

Grabbed this little mp3 player as it was cheap and cheerful, just a shame the company sent me a 2gb version instead of the 8gb.

The only real problem with this player is the OLED screen, which is far too dim even on max setting this wasn't a problem for me as i only listen to 1-3hour dj sets but for most people this will be a killer design flaw, shame.

Having a microSD slot in the bottom is a great idea and just like the player it auto mounts as a flash drive, copy & paste yer files and job done.

Sound quality is actually rather good if you bin the cheap generic ones that come with the device.

Wonderful little gadget.Never seen this model before and after hearing good things decided to take the plunge and give it a go.Was in two minds about purchasing this product but feel I made the right choice. As is the case with a lot of these things have found they can be a little fiddly to use at first but can be so much fun once you work out how to use it.As with a lot of reviews the display could be a little bigger and hard to read in bright light as I have found it to be rather frustrating.I received mine in black so for me it a little easier to read. Not recommended if you have poor eyesight. If you are thinking of taking this outside on a bright day then be warned.Same goes for the instuction manual which is easy to follow and operation is pretty straight forward. If you are like me and don’t bother to read instructions then it is just a case of trail and error once you are more familiar. If you have never used one of these before then it could take a little longer to work out.Has built in fm tuner which is better than expected and crisp clear reception with no interference and fairly straight forward, but for me not required.Easy to navigate through menus.Has an alluminium finish which both looks and feels good, and all the bells and whistles you can expect, compared to the plasticy finish on most models. The included earphones are a bit of a let down and not the best quality I have found,as the ones I already have are far more suitable to me and has a huge improvement on the sound (I would recommend the Bose MIE2i) if you are like me and like to get make the most from you music. The ones included do not do the sound justice.Despite what some people say this thing can really pack a punch if you have it on the right setting.Read more ›

i'm writing this just to confirm that this very nice Mp3 player (which also plays all type of music formats like Flac) has a micro sd slot at the bottom of it & FM Radio tuner, voice recording, clear lcd screen & its so easy to use & even easier to add mp3 files to it,all you do is hook it up to your pc or laptop via the usb cable provided & windows will automatically recognize it as an external usb memory all you do then is just drag & drop your music files & job is done but remember when you want to disconnect it from your PC to right click on the storage icon & click on EJECT you don't want windows developing errors when reading the device in the future so do it the right way :) & obviously this goes for everything that connects to your PC via USB. the sound quality is just perfect & the volume goes up to 32 which is very loud (21 if perfect for me),built quality is excellent & the manual is very clear & easy to follow. really good buy, amazon i love you, thanks for always treating me as a valuable customer i truly appreciate it. :)
